Tesco Indirect

What a waste of a day, I have been waiting since 11am for my two new leather sofas to be delivered from Tesco. I got a text from them yesterday to say "Tesco Direct Home Delivery confirms your goods will be delivered on Thursday between 11:00 and 14:00. The driver will call you one hour before arrival". At 14:10 I had heard nothing and so phoned their Direct number (chargeable!). I eventually managed to speak to someone who said the delivery was on its way about about an hour away. I said I was promised a call an hour before but heard nothing and was not happy about that. I also said that if I did not receive anything by 15:30 today I would cancel the order. I also advised this telephone person that I had an important vets appointment to go to and had stayed in all day for the delivery. Still nothing has arrived and nobody has phoned me. I paid for both sofas on my Tesco Credit card, can anyone please advise me how I ensure that this order is cancelled and the money not taken off my card?
My daughter and I are now left with no sofa or chair in my lounge as had the room cleared for the delivery. Hey ho! 16:00 and still no news from anyone. What happens if they turn up when I am out and I am not there to receive them? I need to go to the vets now. I really don't want the sofas now as feel very upset with Tesco and their lack of customer service. I would feel very distrustful of the quality of any goods if/when they do turn up!

What are you going to sit on now?
P.s. I don't expect a reply. You didn't answer any questions in the last thread you started (your only other post).0 -
When I got furniture delivered by tesco last month, I was told the delivery time frame was 8-6pm. Why would you book any appoitment on that day within the delivery time. Deliverys are next to always late (for me anyway
)
If your wanting to ensure the order is cancelled, you could start by calling them and cancelling the order0 -
What on earth has a delivery delay got to do with the perceived quality of the goods?

In response to your comment: If a company is totally unreliable why would I spend my hard-earned money with them? There are plenty of other companies that can provide a reliable and efficient service. Tesco promotes itself as delivering within a specified time, no customer should be expected to cancel a day from work to sit in and wait all day, having to phone up and chase, keep wating, get no response or contact and this is when the company has committed to delivery between a specified time on the day.
And your comment about not replying to the other thread, I do not believe that is relevant here or has anything to do with you but for your information I had just heard of my nephew's tragic and unexpected death at 21 and was looking after my family members. Replying to a message that someone might have sent me did not come near in my list of what was important. Regards.0 -
Tesco sent a text to say delivery was between 11am and 2pm today and the courier would phone me an hour before delivery. This is why I booked the vets appointment later in the afternoon at 5pm. Seems logical to me that you can do that if you are given a delivery time. What is the point of a delivery time otherwise?0

That's very true but then I never knew indepth mystical insight was a requirement to knowing when a Tesco furniture delivery will turn up. Should have consulted a crystal ball before taking the day off. Darn it.0 -
Sorry to say, but all Tesco Delivery Vehicles have been too busy delivering cartons of tomatoes to do anything else.;)
OP I do hope they have arrived now?Not just a sucker for sweeties..:o0 -

You've had a lucky escape. We had a Tesco sofa that was made with split leather and the seats shredded within two months of normal household use
Rejected it and got a refund, and then bought better quality sofa's elsewhere.Here I go again on my own....0 -
"no comment on you getting rid of their Tesco Credit card then?"
Having experienced very unsatisfactory customer service I will not be placing another order for furniture with Tesco and so have no need for the card. I make no apologies for believing that, if a company commits to a delivery time, they should keep their promise or at least contact the customer to explain and be straight with them about a likely delivery time. That is reasonable and there are plenty of other suppliers that can provide such a service.0
