Is it coincidence that for the last couple of weeks I have trouble with AOL, keep getting the message not responding.
Then I get a call from them, out of the blue, offering a new router, faster connection etc, etc. The catch being I have to agree a new contract for 18 months.
Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Yip I having been having the same problems over the last 2 months.
My down load speeds went from 8mb/s through the day to 0.80mb/s as soon as it hit 5pm then at 12am speed shot back up.
After numerous calls to them and changing settings on router 3 or 4 times nothing helped.
I am out of contract now and have been for a good while,I was on their old Platinum contract unlimited.
Got so fed up called for a mac no, and got put through to retentions in Ireland,
who put me through to tech help a lovely Irish chap and he said he would test my line and would call back within 2 hours,he did, said he could not find anything wrong and would ask for an engineer to visit, and would call to say when.
Since my call my speeds have stayed around the 8mb/s day and night (funny that). Then today got a call from a nice Irish lady asking if if I would like to take out a new contract for £14.99 1st 3 months free.
Said to her would think about it, after all the trouble I have had with AOL for the last few months I do not want to be tied into a contract for 18mths,till I know I can trust them again.I told her I must have called around 20 times trying to sort things out, being told the same thing over and over, the problem must be at my end.Bless her she gave me 2 months free and her email address if I wanted to go ahead and sign the new contract.
In my case I am happy the way I am,not getting locked in for 18mths,knowing my luck if I did all the problems would start again.Credit Cards, Vanquis £3000 Capitalone £1500
Accessory(sygma) £1250
Littlewoods £2900,Very £16000 -
At least she gave you 2 months free most wouldnt do that xD0
