Unlock SE Xperia X10 locked on Orange

Hi.

I'm thinking of getting a SE Xperia X10, and I want the White Version which is exclusive to Orange.

Would there be anyway to get this unlocked to work on O2? Most local shops say that they havent got any software available for this yet..?

Thanks!

Get an orange PAYG sim, add £20 credit, ring them up and ask them to unlock the phone

Right.. so I guess if I do that I wont have to pay the £20 on top to get it unlocked?

Also.. is this something that they definately do? Or is it down to getting lucky with them?

they definatley do it as ive done it before, the £20 credit is used to unlock it so there is nothing else to pay.

I rang Orange up and asked to see what they could do. They said that the phone needs to have been used for at least 3 months. Im most likely going to be getting a brand new one, is there any way around this?

Orange won't unlock before 3 months, the system won't let them. It knows the started date and won't allow an unlock request to go through before 3 months have elapsed.

I must have slipped through then or something went wrong with their system, i got a SE Satio, unlocked it the following week and sold it about a week later

It has to be said, it's not by any stretch a perfect system (as anyone that ever used it will tell you !!!).

Right then.. I'll give that a go!

Im assuming that I dont need to have bought the phone from Orange directly to get it unlocked.. just be a P&G customer..?
