Day trip ideas just off the M6

We are a family of four with boys of 12 and 6 and we are going on holiday on the 2nd of July and heading to Butlins at Minehead on Sunday the 4th of July, I am looking for somewhere we can go to on the Saturday. We are travelling from near Glasgow towing our caravan, so I am looking for somewhere near the M6 that is not a day of queues. We are going to Drayton Manor on the 16th and Blackpool in October, Lego Discovery Centre at Manchester has rubbish reviews and we have done Cadbury World before so they are out.

Thank you for your help, FiFi :)

Monkey Forest at Trentham Gardens? Just a few minutes from J15 M6.

The Monkey Forest is fab, or you could try the Blue Planet in Cheshire - my kids love it, and it is really close to Cheshire Oaks which has loads of places to eat. Chester Zoo is also close, as the Blue Planet only takes about 2.5 hours to do.

two good posts above and all of the opinion not to go south of brum until the following morning if you are a member of C&C clubs i remember there is a good base in cannock chase not far from m6 and kids can have a great time on the very good facilities.

If you fancy the idea of chester (zoo and blue planet) (half hour down M56) chester fairoaks is a good site or greenacres farm park a little further on

    Thanks for all the help!
Monkey Forest looks interesting but is Trentham Estate any good, what I mean is it value for money? Or am I just as well trying to find a good local park with a play area for my favourite price - free.
One year we found a park in Bath and it had loads of different play equipment and another time we stumbled upon a Scout jamboree in a park in Chichester.
I really like the look of Shugborough but the kids would ruin it for me, little darlings.

The Monkey Forest and the Trentham Estate is a great day out. We went last year on my birthday and we had a fantastic time there.

This site is always worth a look at for discounts though Trentham doesn't seem to have any on there this time.....
