    Hi

I did not pay via paypal and so it wasn't involved. It turned out that 9 people were involved and we managed to contact each other and all agree to go to the police in the hope that something might be achieved.

Ebay have rules about the amount of time that has to elapse before you can claim but I know that it took a few months. You can claim up to £120 of anything bought on ebay - £15 charges, or that was the case at the time. I paid out for them a few weeks before Christmas so it was a bit lean that year!!

    Good luck!!

There maybe a case for saying ebaypaypal may be facilitating fraud. I remember reading in a magazine about the rogue dialling scam (modem dials up to a premium rate number and victims get a massive phone bill) where a person who got stung got onto BT and his bank saying they were as much to blame, and actively took part in it as they benefited from the crime. Pretty sure he got his money back. It might be worth a shot, but it'd take a lot of time, energy and patience.

Why would anyone want to sell money for less than its value?
Never trust anybody who offers you pennies for ha'pennies. It's one of the oldest tricks used by conmen.

Well... not everyone wants to shop at Asda. I have some Jessops voushers that I'm not likely to use and I'd quite happily take less than their face value... because they were a customer service token pacifying gesture.

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j

Also if you look at the 2 auctions it shows the same time, same date and same info. This could well have been spent months ago and no-one would have known.

Paypal was your best bet and should have just gone down the 'goods not arrived' method and got your money back. Ebay will only cover you for the 2 you bought on ebay and not the 2 you bought "off " ebay.

    Hope you get it sorted.

I think eBay is getting worse and worse everyday. I used to love it 3/4 years ago but now it's Fraud and Scam city and ebay don't care a single bit.

  • Hmmmm....OP, didn't you notice something familiar about the pics the seller was using? Here's a hint:

    His auction:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=109197&item=110014762082

    Another auction you won:

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=109197&item=6631976828

Same photo used on both auctions. Your scammer nicked someone else's images.

  • You have to be very careful about buying expensive items off ebay. Don't just look at their feedback rating but at what they got that feedback for.

I recently brought £330 worth of Argos vouchers for £296 and had no problems.

  • More concerning to me is the fact that csrivats has allegedly been scammed several times.....either the OP is VERY unlucky...or something's amiss here.......

Look at csrivats post on this forum...every single one bar one ....has been about him being scammed...??strange??

Personally I smell a csRivATs.........everything is not as it seems............
