Westy, did you ever have a temporary card - one of the paper ones which you then registered on tesco.com. I had a temp card and did this and ended up with a duplicate card.

hi.. felicity.. how you doing....:rotfl:
well if tescos have sorted their tills out for the 10% exceptance.....at least we have had our money's worth out of them with normal product vouchers and the health and beauty ones....
i know its off thread.. but ...i have about 150 lurpack butter coupons... for a free pack....and even when i bought the product some sa would not except them as it went over the 10%..of my shopping bill.....
i think in future to put the spanner in the works.. so to speak... anything that i am buying that i have a coupon for.. pay for it seperately.... as most of the coupons are well over 10% of the value of the item... that will piddle them off especially if the till have been now programmed to only take 10% of the overall value...
i will buy the lurpack now anyway..as even with buying the vouchers off ebay..... it works out very cheap.... so will buy it and freeze it...
plus this way you can still get you FULL 10% voucher use... of your main shopping....without buying the products... as the products that you have got vouchers for you are buying seperately...
hope all that made sense......and sorry for going off topic... i was on a flow...so to speak....
plus thanks felicity about the 1000 point cd player thing will keep an eye out for that .....did you get any probs returning it.?Work to live= not live to work0 -
In all my time shopping at Tesco I have NEVER had one of these till "spit-outs" that people keep talking about! Am I being picked on, or just buying the wrong things? You don't get medals for sitting in the trenches.0

I spent £20 on toiletries yesterday and handed over the extra points vouchers, all accepted ok (on the BOGOF of course), then I handed over the money off vouchers, 1 accepted and the till beeped, supervisor came over, said would only accept 10% off and whisked off again. Showed the guy on the till the voucher that said £2.50 off a £10 spend, got my shopping out to show him that I had bought the products and he said, no sorry, can't accept them.
So, I think it is game over for us, they probably just accept the money off OR the points. QUOTE]
Hi Felicity,
My guess is you were just unlucky - maybe the total toiletries did not quite add up to the £10 or £20 you needed to use the £2.50 coupon. I have been caught out this way before, when these coupons were around a few months ago. Thought I had added everything up perfectly to just over a tenner, then either:
- a product scans for a bit less than the shelf label (noooooo!) or
- the till chap omits to scan one of the items (usually good but not here!) or
- one of the items you've picked doesn't register as 'toiletries' (or healthcare).
This third example happened to me yesterday - I was in a small Express and the coupons were burning a hole in my pocket, so I thought I'd use one of the (awful to get to scan) healthcare ones. Picked up plasters, toothpaste and medicated lip salve which totalled exactly £4 - but the till beeped when it came to the coupon!
I guessed that the lip salve was the fly in the ointment(!) so I asked the girl to take it off the bill, then rushed to get another toothpaste instead. Job done, healthcare coupon scanned! It is always a pain to find stuff that this coupon recognises!
Long post but MY FINAL TIP if anyone is off to Tesco this pm is, when you've added up your toiletries, pick up one more cheap item (e.g. Aquafresh 98p). When you unload your trolley at the till, leave the Aquafresh on the end, as if you don't want it. If you then get a beeping coupon, say, 'oh I forgot my toothpaste, could you add this and try again?'. The coupon then works because you were probably just short of the minimum toiletries spend!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Some of our more seasoned shoppers have a theory on till spills, then seem to appear at the beginning of the week mostly and once every 2 weeks. It may be that you are just instore at the time when they are not being generated by the system.
The till spills are generally geared to what you have bought etc. My mum for example doesn't get them but I do. Recently adopted 3 kittens and had a till spill for kitty food the following month after I had stocked up on cat food.

Unfortunately I'd run out of the extra points vouchers though.
In a different Tesco bought two Slimfast tins, gave in 2x£1 healthcare vouchers and 2x£1 quick read vouchers and an odd coupon paid about 12p!Saving money right, left and centre0 -
I spent the last of my vouchers today. A big thankyou to the person who sent me vouchers and all the tips on here. I have saved loads.0

I was restrained although as I drove past my local Tescos to pick up a child for a sleepover at our house I was thinking, oh I could pop in quickly and use that £1.00 and £2.50 toiletry vouchers !! I was very good though and drove past - spent enough this month on toiletries

I did the same today, and afraid I succumbed. Worth it tho, cos I picked up an R&R on Whitney CD, & the chunky Aero bars, as well as redeeming my last £2.50 voucher.0 -
I did my last trip to make use of the tokens before they ran out today
I had no 50 point vouchers left and only 3 of the £1 ones but I still managed to get £20 worth of toiletries for £2. I've done this four times now and my cupboards are bursting with shampoo and the CC points have risen nicely. I'm off to share my goodies with some friends tomorrow.
When are they doing this promotion again? :rotfl:Cos I don't shine if you don't shine.0
