Bogus Amazon emails

Just wondering if anyone can help as getting no help whatsoever from Amazon!
I placed a mobile phone for sale on the Amazon uk website. I had previously sold another item and the transaction went without a hitch.
I received an email to say my phone had sold to a seller in the UK, the email looked exactly the same as the one i had been sent previously when my item sold. The email said that along with my payment was a shipping credit for £65 being held in my account.
The buyer emailed me asking me to send the phone to Nigeria which i did. I then received another email from Amazon to say that the money had been taken from the seller's account twice, in order for me to get my refund i had to refund him £165, which i did.
When i still hadn't received my payment i emailed Amazon who said my phone was still for sale and that no sale had taken place.
The emails were obviously fake but looked legitimate. I'm now out of pocket the £65 + £165 + a Samsung Pixon phone!
Amazon are saying emails didn't come from them so taking no responsibility. I've been to the police with copies of the emails and addresses that the buyer has given me in the UK.
Is there anything you can do to help? I wouldn't mind as much if i had the money to spare but i'm nearly finished my degree and need the money until i find employment! I wouldnt have sent it to Nigeria had i not been contacted through all the fake Amazon emails.
Thank you.

I wouldn't have sent it to Nigeria... FULL STOP.
You will not see any of your money again.
Yeah, i was kind of getting that feeling myself! The supposed UK buyer is still emailing me trying the same thing again, i get an email from him then 1 from "amazon" straight after, now saying i need to refund £448 and i will get the £996 i'm due! At least i clicked on quickly, others may not and Amazon at least should make people aware if they offer this service!0 -
perhaps you should just pay more attention to what you are doing ?
post to nigeria, really ??Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais

Had it not have been through a reputable company i wouldn't have done! I was getting emails from the buyer in the UK to ask to post to his cousin in Nigeria so i didnt find out until it had sold. I received the sold, dispatch now email from who i thought was Amazon so i thought my money was safe with them.0 -
except if had read ANYTHING on amazons site regarding selling you would know the format of their emails and that you only receive notification of a sale and you are then instructed to get address details from your account page,
You cant blame amazon when they provide a wealth of information to protect their marketplace sellers and you dont bother to read it !Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais

Perhaps people like you shouldn't be on a site like this, its a sign of a sad existance when you use places like this to make others feel bad, very convenient for you to be able to hide behind an email address!
Pay attention to what i'm doing?! Legitimately trying to sell a phone through a reputable company, buyer gave me a UK address for himself and an address in Nigeria to send it to. It wasn't as if the buyer was in Nigeria! I received bogus emails telling me the money was in my account from who i thought was Amazon. I'm not the one in the wrong.0 -
If you had read my first post, the email i received was exactly the same as an Amazon dispatch letter as i had sold another item previously.
Information to protect buyers yes, not sellers!0 -
NO the email you received was not EXACTLY the same as the ones from amazon or it would be a genuine email. Hence the pay more attention comment.
The 'BUYER' gave you the address not amazon, they have no blame in this what so ever, you can only get genuine buyers address details from your account page and amazon give clear instructions on how to access those details.
throw all the insults you like my way but the facts are simple, guidelines and instructions are there to protect you, you choose to ignore them and now you have found the cost.Bow Ties ARE cool "Just because you are offended, doesnt mean you are right" Ricky Gervais
