    Hi all how is everyone?

NLID .. is there any reason other than difficult to get hold of you shouldn't take his business?
  • No,

but the problem is in my field, to spend a LOT of time trying to speak to someone means little work gets done, then when you do get to speak to them they have a go as they dont see any Return on Investment. Especially cruel as it is specific product knowledge I am asking for to arrange the content to be written.

However considering I need the cash - I will just word it into the contract that I can not be held responsible for any work not completed due to lack of communication with him
    £4142.49/ £131,795.91 - 3.14% paid off or only £129,608.80 to go!
    Debt free by Xmas 2015: #182 £1955.38/£4435.51 (44.08%)

NLID - I was about to suggest exactly what your solution is. He has obviously realised the worth of your service - fab! Can you communicate via email with him? If so you could be honest and say that as he is such a busy man you find it difficult to catch him, so would he be happier to communicate via email?

Hi Mambury - wow - your sales sound fab!! well done! you obviously know your target customers!! brill!!

ha ha ... not that fab!! But slowly increasing..... Just hope that I can get the funds together to get this new line in before too many people on ebay do that same thing! The new line is selling well on ebay but there are only about three sellers and I know the European distributor personally !! She's my bestest friend.....

Good idea NLID!! Not your fault if you can't get hold of him, like you say e-mail him asking him to give you a call. You can always call him straight back then at least your not chasing him.

Any business better than none surely, and as Nixi said they obviously know of your worth or wouldn't be coming back. Well done!! :D

Sounds great NLID-yep as long as you put that clause in the contract then go for it! well done :-)

Oooh sounds interesting Mambury-am fascinated as to what the new line is-the mind boggles!

I'm off out with the dogs for a walk-I've emailed my webbie person to see if she can give me any info as to changing the side bar and adding a search feature...thinking about it I'm sure if you register it gives you a search feature...or I might have just made that up?! I'm going to have to register one of the dogs as a trial! Should be able to get that feature as standard I would have thought? anyhooo-will wait for her to get back to me on it.

  • Nix - I can take the heat of someone shouting down the phone at me - thats not a problem

Its the legal Wrath I need to prevent as I cant take being sued for not doing the work as I should due to not being authorised. Unfortunately the web development/SEO game there are a lot of people out there who want to have a go at you

I guess the best way to deal with that is to write into the contract AND tell him upfront .... you have other clients so you can't spend all your time chasing one client for authorisation. If you don't get it you don't do the job....simples!

  • I told him in person today that would be the case, and if he did not like it then unfortunately I could not reasonably jusify taking on the project without adding on a number of hours work chasing him for authorisation, and as time is money this would hurt the competitiveness of the quotation.
