Doesnt sound flippant at all NLID-I used to work for a couple that after years of struggling eventually went bankrupt, they are now renting but are so much more happier and relaxed than they ever were before.

skint, can you add another fiver please. I sold my paint pod for £25, bought £30 of metro centre vouchers for £25 which I'll swap for £30 cash from my DD's birthday fund as I'm taking her shopping to the metro centre at the end of the month. So that's £70 for me.

edit: just listed my sky+ HD box on a 3 day listing for £110. Here's hoping.

My guilty pleasure is usually chocolate, although I'm really trying to cut back a bit. Oh and alcohol.

Cage I like your crafty thinking.

You are a bit late for potatoes, elly. Maincrop would have gone in in April. Unless we have a long summer you'd not get much of a crop, and if we have our usual warm wet summer you'd be at risk of potato blight and losing the lot. It's normally recommended to use seed potatoes rather than spuds from the shop as they are treated to resist disease etc. but I know a lot of people do just use normal ones that have sprouted. You could try planting them but it would be a risk and then you can't really reuse the compost for growing stuff in directly as potatoes are hungry and take all the goodness out of the compost. I reuse it but as a soil conditioner or mixed with some of my home made compost. I have to say I'm biased though - I've stopped growing potatoes as you don't get that much yield for the amount of effort.

Thanks 2cats-I went looking for seed potatoes this morning and the garden centres have all sold out. Ended up buying some broad bean seeds for 12pence instead bargain!

elly If you have some sprouted tatties put some in. I have used seed and supermarket ones and had good results.
