Help With Laptop Insurance Denied...

A few months ago, I took my laptop to a course, and was coming home with my sis in law, after getting some messages... I took all out the boot of the car and placed it on the pavement. When I took the shopping in and came back out for the laptop.... My sis in law had reversed over it...
It was an accident. and now pc world who I was insured by is telling me that it was accidental damage it was misuse...
I have a problem with forgeting things and It was a mistake... acident to leave it there...
Is there anything I can do to fight this problem?
My insurance told me I was covered for anything... and an accident that was and still nothing....
Please help if you can....
Thanks for taken the time out to read this....

That took 2 seconds to find for you and its quite clear. This will not be covered. It all comes down to "accident" or "neglect" this is neglect as nobody in their right mind would *leave* a laptop in such a vulnerable place, a mishap would be the equivalent to somebody reversing into your house and crushing the laptop whilst it was inside.
Expensive lesson im afraid!
Claim on home insurance?Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
It took you more than 2 seconds to find....why did you type that? Why throw in the 'nobody in their right mind' comment? Are you trying to demean the OP.
Read this and tell us what word is missing:-
...this is neglect as nobody in their right mind would a laptop in such a vulnerable place,
...not so clever are you?0 -

Funnily enough, my typo hasn't resulted in a car crushing my laptop. Not quite on the same level is it?
I was just pointing out that its quite easy for to op to read their own insurance policy and clearly see they aren't covered. I was even tempted to use LMGFY but i wasn't actually trying to be demeaning so sorry if it comes across that way.
They obviously didn't fully understand the distinction between an accident and neglect and what the latter entails or rather, what it doesn't entail. I just worded things rather bluntly which was perhaps and error.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
I'm not surprised that the claim was rejected under "The cost of repairing or replacing a product which fails because anyone neglects, abuses or misuses the product"
Accident or not, placing a laptop where it can be run over by a car is neglect, and the claim for accidental damage is pretty hard tojustify given the danger of placing a laptop on the pavement (quite apart from the sister in law driving over it, the risk of theft etc).
I think this one goes down in the book of expensive lessons learned.Dogs have owners...my cat has slaves...0 -
So you reckon typing in reply to the OP 'nobody in their right mind' isn't demeaning?0

I don't really care if you're not quite sure, perhaps, certainly. Have you never been wrong on anything you've posted on MSE?
As for accident or neglect...are you qualified to decide and advise?0 -

I have indeed been wrong, wouldn't be human otherwise. So you took my post as degrading, I didn't mean it that context but can see where your coming form. So can we finish the squabbling about that as that's merely a difference in our interpretation.
As for neglect, its pretty hard to see how this was an accident...
As the Op took all of their stuff out of the boot , including stuff they couldn't immediately carry, it implies they knew their sister-in-law would be moving, if so, not the brightest idea to place a laptop where they did. If they didn't know then its still neglectful to leave something so expensive open to theft etc (as pointed out by another poster).
You cannot say you "accidentally" left it on the pavement when you intentionally put it their for a specific reason and knew you would be leaving it there. That my friend is neglect, no qualification needed, just common sense.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Left it on the pavement? Cars shouldn't be driving on the pavement would be my argument...so I wasn't negligent?0
