good providers is different to different people

who can you get at your local exchange? check https://www.samknows.com

other than that what we need to know is how much usage do you need? how much are you willing to spend?
    Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

i wanted a umlimited usage as im sign onto the net about 10 hours or more a day some days a bit less, i dont really want to spend more than £20 per month and would like not to have a connection charge to pay, ive looked at reviews for orange and they arent too good, ive also looked at be but i cant get it in my area, i also have a friend who lived not far from me that had alot of probloms with sky,so im very unsure who is the best provider as i dont want to switch and find out the service isnt very good, thanks for the info i have looked at alot of reviews on the second site but all the ones that have reviews over 7 i cant get in my area :-( .

Broadband is exchange specific, it's impossible to give general advice. Either post your exchange name from samknows or say what your LLU options are (look on the right hand column when you do an exchange search).
PS: being online 10 hours a day doesn't mean you need an unllimited service, it's what you do online that matters, if you are just surfing/emailing that does not use much. If you strea or download a lot then your data usage will be much higher.

It isn't so much how long you are connected which determines your usage but what you do when connected. If that 10 hours is just browsing and doesn't include streaming video or downloading large files then you could still be a fairly light user. Unlimited on IPstream (ie non LLU) = either expensive or poor performance.

Virgin Media do offer an ADSL option but I really wouldn't recommend it.

    Here are some ratings...

Just noticed that link is already posted above. Clearly you haven't looked at it though or you wouldn't be asking about VM ADSL....

Install netmeter and check your average daily use over a week or so - http://www.softpedia.com/get/Network-Tools/Bandwidth-Tools/NetMeter.shtml

If samknows says Tiscali only LLU, then that is it. How do you know you can get more than that?
You can get up to 8MBps (so you might only get 0.5MBps) from any other non- LLU provider (Virgin National is just a resold BT Wholesale service). But there are better options than that.

A good provider with no traffic shaping is Idnet which have a package for £16.99 a month with about £40 gb usage. Also check out Zen and newnet.

I'm with plusnet and they do traffic shape peer 2 peer downloading but for watching vids on you tube and streaming tv shows from the bbc or the other channels then there totally fine at all times of the day..
