Cancelled flights with Wizz Air

I have recently booked return flights with Wizz Air only to be informed today that they are cancelling the whole route so will not be able to fly at all.
I was wondering what I am entitled to in this instance as I do not feel only a refund is sufficient, these tickets where booked a month ago and so all other flights are now much more expensive ruling out other airlines and holiday destinations.
Am I entitled to compensation?
Thanks

Compensation for them cancelling the route and my flights being cancelled. In addition to this, my whole holiday being cancelled in response to there being no flights.0

Thanks. Although surely they are liable to pay for my hotel if it is non-refundable as it is their fault that I cannot get there?!0

No, their liability is only the flights. You are not entitled to compensation if they gave you more than two weeks notice from the date of the flight.0

It's the risk we all take, particulary with budget Airlines. Ryanair and Easyjet regulary change and cancel destinations, they can cancel routes as they like without any compensation. You haven't booked a package with them, just the flights, and that's all their liable for.0 -
Thanks, thats annoying.0

& the big time, down side of booking non-refundable accomodation.
Like you, I usually book my holidays myself, lumping together all of the seperate elements. Unlike you, I've never been the unfortunate position of having my flights cancelled, but I've always used a 'full service' airline, rather than a no-frills, ultra economy airline.0 -
what is the route? are there any other carriers?0

Your travel insurance will pay out for cancellation beyond your control. Some also pay out for the difference in new fares - check the T&C of your policy!!Legal team on standby0
