Hoover is of the Devil. I'll never tire of telling people that. Had to have the washer replaced after three months, and the dryer has had serious problems. Six months after buying them, I'm putting them on Freecycle and buying Bosch. They're prices are in line with the other brands and I've never heard a bad thing about them.

In my now EXTENSIVE experience talking to repair men, I can say that they all recommend Bosch.

  • I have an LG direct drive - it's so quiet, you can barely hear it is on, has eco programmes -it was £400 but it was streets ahead of the other brands I have had (Ariston - cheap and tinny and VERY noisy spin, Zanussi - OK but couldn't get anyone to repair it when it went wrong, Hotpoint (don't get me started.......NEVER again!).

another vote for Bosch ... my mum's had one for more than 10 years & it's still going strong, I have one too & so does my ex-OH, we all love them :)

they're competitively priced if you don't need top-of-the-range bells & whistles (my mum's was £500+ when she got it all those years ago, it does everything but make you a cup of tea & she only ever uses the 30-degree quick wash ) ... that said, my budget one does everything I need it to & more
oh & another plus, they're very quiet, even when spinning

And another Bosch user - had ours for 11 years and used everyday with no problems. It was expensive to buy at the time but well worth it!
