Washing Machine recommendation ?

My old Creda Washing Machine is about to give up the ghost and I am looking to buy a replacement. Did replace the bearings 6 years ago but not going to bother again.

The choice of cheap machines is mind boggling and I could do with a bit of advice. Looking for a modest spin speed (1200) and it would seem I can get many machines for £175 - 225 delivered. Beko seem to have a poor reputation and Whirlpool, Bosch better.

Anyone add their 2p worth to make the choice of machine/manufacturer easier.

stay away from Beko - we have one of their fridges and it's been a nuisance since we've had it. Thank god we're moving so we can get rid of it.

I have a Candy washing machine and it's been brilliant, wasn't expensive either :T

I'm sure people are getting bored of me saying this, but I'd go for Bosch every time - even the salespeople in the shops recommend it over more expensive brands. Otherwise, LG are a good make, and my Candy tumble-drier was very good, but can't speak for their WMs. Don't go near Indesit, though.

Make sure you check out Kelkoo (https://www.kelkoo.co.uk) for best prices once you've picked out a model, and try the Comet clearance site too (http://www.clearance-comet.co.uk/)

I echo tawynowls, anything in the Bosch family (Neff, Siemens, Bosch) are just fantastic value for money. My Siemens is AAA rated, 6kg with 1600 spin and has a five year guarantee, not bad for a little over £400.

I agree about Bosch , I have one and so far it's been great.

Wouldn't buy another Hotpoint or Hoover (although they were washer/dryers) , but ordered a washing machine for my DD2 the other day and as she's on a tight budget I tried to find what I thought would be a good make , but at a fairly cheap price so hopefully it will be reliable for her. I decided on THIS ZANUSSI. TBH I don't really know why as i've never had a Zanuussi washing machine , only a F/F :o  , so I hope it'll be ok :undecided

Anyone got any comments on Zanussi washing machines?

I have had a Zanussi machine for the past 6 years or so.

The only problem I had with it was an error message due to the pump being blocked by one of the other halfs bra straps.

    Soon sorted that problem.

Very good machine, really heavy so little in the way of vibration / noise on spin cycle.

    Would recommend to others

I'm also happy with my Bosch which was recommended by the man I called to look at my old washing machine (which was beyond repair). You get a 2 year warranty with Bosch machines, which was boosted up to 3 years because I bought it on my Nationwide Credit card.
It's a 1200 spin machine, and it cost me £250 including delivery.

Zanussi is very good value for money and it uses german AEG parts (being part of the same company). You can get the same spec as a bosch for cheaper also. Bosch and Zanussi are the only machines i'd consider in that price range. We've had our Zanussi for 6 years, very good machine.

Thanks for the replies - it would seem that for cheaper machines, Bosch are the most popular with Zanussi and Candy being recommended.

Unfortunately I have bad memories of the expensive and troublesome washer/driers that Zanussi used to make so will probably look at buying a bosch.
