Problems getting PAC code from O2

Hi - I called O2 on Friday (30/4) to ask for a PAC code as want to transfer my number to Orange. I was told one would be sent via text in the next 2-24hrs. On Tuesday I had still not received it so I called them again and was told it was delayed due to the bank holiday (yeah?!) and I should receive it in the next 24hrs as it was on the system as requested. Today (Wednesday) I have still not received it and called again. This time I was told I am on an "old system" and so my PAC can only come in the post and not be texted. Apparently it hasn't even been generated yet. I am getting more and more angry with them now as currently I am paying two contracts which I had only expected to overlap a short time. The lady I spoke to today said she would keep an eye on it for me an call me when it was generated - oh and that she wasn't in work tomorrow!!

What shall I do next? I really don't want to change my number for a lot of reasons though I am close to losing it and cancelling the direct debit..yes I know that would mean reconnection fee of the number if I did so I haven't.

Odd. I requested a PAC code from O2 on Saturday, got it the same day. My GF requested one Sunday and got it Sunday.

I read on here that people who had O2 contracts through Carphone Warehouse have to request PAC codes by post. But I also read on here that this changed recently.

If you called on Friday the porting team wont have got the request until Tuesday due to the bank holiday, if you're on the old system then it does take 48 hours for it to be raised, it will be automatically noted on the account and it will be sent out via letter because that billing system is unable to send text messages.

Not much you can really do, you could phone tomorrow and I would expect it to have been updated to the notes.
