Cheers Eagle_1. I can't take credit for the piccies, but I have described one of my favourite days out.

I'll try and dig out a picture for that last bit where you overlook Newby Bridge.

I posted a link to some printable discount vouchers for lake district attractions a few weeks ago. If you do a search you should find it. Mainly two for one entry.

We we are off to the lakes for the Bank holiday weekend later today so will give MTC's day out a go and let you know how we get on, we are staying south near grange over sands so seems to be a good one for us to try.

    Thanks MTC.

    Hello from Kendal...! :hello:

Great recommendation, MTC... however, I have to say, a visit to The Drunken Duck Inn should not be missed if you're venturing out to Tarn Hows. They serve great food but you will have to book early if you want to be in luck for any time over the Bank Holiday weekend.

There's a tiny tarn by the DD where I took this photo a couple of years back:

Oh, and here's my Tarn Hows shots from around the same time:

    Have a great weekend...

    Hi Aaron

& hello back from Kendal as well

I never mentioned the duck because although it is an absolutely spankingly good pub, with good beer, the food IMO is definitely more restaurant than pub and priced accordingly.
But well worth a visit, always assuming that you can get in !

Here's the Kendal weather for the weekend.

Agreed re: Drunken Duck, although they do do bar snacks as well (although pricier/better than your average pub too). Another good and rather more affordable spot to grab a bite to eat is Wilf's at Stavely's Mill Yard. And the cafe at Lakeland Plastics isn't bad either, although no doubt you'd have to wait a while and inevitably would end up buying something you don't need from in the shop.

Where in Kendal are you, MTC?

I was going to say at my desk, but that wouldn't be fair ! TBH, I'm not going to say on an open forum, but if you give me a couple of "suggestions", I'll give you a cold, warm or hot:D

& your Wilfs suggestion is a good 'un. & while at Wilfs get some 'fancy bread' from Pain de Paris, across the way.

You can't be "at my desk"... I'm there, and I don't see you! ;)

    Errr... let me guess then...

    1) Kirkland
    2) Stramongate
    3) Stricklandgate

Maybe see you in Doughnuts at lunchtime... lol.
