Relocating to Dubai - Can I still hold a UK credit card, and which one is best?

Hi There, I am moving to Dubai for two years but want to get a credit card before I go. Once I am officially a resident of Dubai will I still be allowed to keep my UK credit card (I will still have a UK bank account).

Also, what is the best credit card to get for use in Dubai? My main priorities will be either cash back, low international currency fees, and airmiles

Thank you in advance.

I doubt, plus you'll be paying fees on everything you buy! Will you still have a uk address for it to be registered to?

    I had the same issue.

It seemed to me at the time that UK residency was a condition of applying for a card, but not maintaining one. My only obligation was to tell them of a change of address. As I maintained an address in the UK I didn't bother.

A friend of mine had a Barclaycard and an HSBC card. She notified both of them of her new (foreign) address. They simply sent statements there and nothing further was said. That was 4 years ago.

If you are only going for 2 years, according to some definitions you might not even break your UK residency - though that's stretching it a bit!

Thank you for this, much appreciated. I'll get the card and do what your friend did or give them a parent's address for bills. Any advice on whether Mastercard or Visa is preferable in Dubai?
