Sky+ HD only allows me to 'copy to VCR' recorded programs after viewing them once

I've had Sky+ HD in for a few weeks now.

I've recorded programs as a test to see how it works but can only view these once only. The next time i try to view them it only shows me the 'press Select to copy' option, not the 'press Select to view'.

Any ideas why?

Also, where in the settings can i increase the output volume as this is really low (in the standard box the option is there).
