  • I've just happened upon this thread after using the ecotek energy wizard for well over a year. I suppose I just accepted the claims, what with reputable companies stocking the device (mine was from Argos).

I've just unplugged the device after reading the findings from Which? I can't post links, put if you go to the which? website and search for the energy wizard, you'll find it listed in the top 10 eco devices not to buy. Their results show that when used in conjunction with a plasma television and energy saving lightbulbs, it actually costs more than with the device unplugged! I know I've been gullible, but I was reeled in by the claims to save on my bills. Surely the company are breaking the law by marketing such a device?
  • About a year ago I did 3 months work for TESCO who were fitting a voltage reduction system to their stores. This reduced VOLTAGE to all electrical items that were able to run 210-220 volts without effecting their use or performance. These systems saved Tesco over £3m over 2 years, It was mentioned that a domestic system was being rolled out soon. So though I know nothing about this particular system, I guess it may be the same. One phrase to watch out for is "Saves UP TO " which means 0 to 60% or anything in between.
