This has annoyed me a tad as i am one of the sellers you seem to be ranting at!
Perhaps you should ask questions before assuming the seller is responsible for cutting the labels out.
I have never cut any labels, they are sent to me from the wholesaler like that. One batch didn't even have the care instructions intact. This is not my choice thats the way that some wholesalers work. Others leave tags and all attached and trust the ebayer to do the defacing.
If you'd rather pay full price for some labels go ahead but i would rather save 75% off the retail price and still get decent quality.
As for your assumption that it's old stock that isn't always true either some never make it to the shops as they are cancelled orders.
I don't think any seller would cut labels out of their own choosing, it's their stock after all so i'd be suprised if anyone even wants to put a pen to it.0 -
De-identification is not always to stop the products being returned either, its also supposed to stop you knowing where its from originally as they dont want you knowing you can buy their stuff cheaper elsewhere. And if they are seconds and may have slight faults you can understand why they would'nt want you knowing then.Did you know you can get Viagra software now??? Yeah, it turns your floppy drive into a hard drive0

TBH I think my concern over missing labels is I always wonder if there is something more sinister....not even from the seller I buy from but from a seller further up the chain! I am not getting at sellers, it is pointless, but equally it will put me off buying something if labels are missing yet seller claims item is genuine such and such store!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

you can normally tell though as most care labels are left in and have some id on that, i find that they aren't always cut to the edge either. There is usually a small amount of label remaining and as long as you know your labels you can tell where it came from.0 -
I agree with OP like to check my items from where it states.
these one seller on ebay who remvoes tags stating from a certain store, but when i looked a her purchased items and feedback they were cheap fakes at 25% less that she had bought and claimed from that store!!! her feedback wasnt great after that!!0 -

thats the problem i think too many bad sellers/scammers ruin it for the rest of the good sellers. tbh anyone selling this sort of thing has to be a business and therfore they have to accept returns. if you get something that you think isn't genuine on inspection you can send it back for a refund. i can't say much about the private sellers though selling wholesale clothing other than they haven't bothered to register as a business so that speaks volumes!0 -

There's certainly a few of those. A few years back there was a seller selling very pretty beach kaftans, on some of her auctions she was selling them as River Island, on others 'Next' or other good high street brands, all stated as labels cut out.
The same ones were being sold in Primark for £3 . She had mediocre feedback but still managed to have quite a high sell through rate overall.
I know why the labels are cut out but to me I then assume it is probably cheap market stuff and will only pay accordingly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Hi I used to work for a factory shop warehouse and all seconds sold either in the shop or to traders had the labels removed before sale.
It will not be the seller removing the labels it will be the factory removing them before selling to a trader or in their own shop.
All of the items were seconds but having said this most of them were fine. I bought some of them the shops returned them or they were rejected for very small defects that you would not notice if it were not for the big red sticker next to the defect.0 -

thats one of the reasons I deface rather than cut the labels. At least if they are defaced then the buyer can still see that I am selling a Next top for example. Sometimes the wholesalers cut the labels but more often than not I have bought stock where the labels are totally intacts. As a seller myself I would be wary of buying from a wholesaler items where the labels have been removed.sealed pot challange #572!Garden fund - £0!!:D£0/£10k0
