Wood burning stove installation certificate

Hi all,

I had one fitted in January by a registered HETAS engineer. Should I receive a certificate or anything? I have the receipt for the work done.

Thanks

Yes you should get a paper and a metal plate to put by your electricity meter (not sure why) I got one with all the details on it (MORSO Squirrel)

I had to ask - but no problems getting.

Yeah you should have a HETAS Certificate of Completion..........they may have just forgotten to post it but there are a lot of fitters around saying they're HETAS Resgistered when they're not.

You can go to the HETAS website and enter their name, business name or postcode and it will tell you if they're registered. If they're not on the site then they're not registered. Company should be named and shamed if so!

Oh I have no doubt they are registered but considering they knocked out my aerial when putting the hat on the chimney in January and I am still waiting for them to sort it out, I am not holding my breath. Good job I dont have a TV really!

I once destroyed an aerial when i swept a flue. The aerial was placed directly over the outlet on the chimney pot. I forgot to check the top of the pot before i swept the flue and ripped the aerial straight off!

Oops..........replaced it same day. 10 minute job.

It needed moving anyway as the gases from the flue had started to rot the aerial.

I shouldn't worry about the HETAS cert too much then so long as they are registered. Just keep your receipts and copies of the paperwork saying that you have requested a certificate. If you don't receive one within the next month just have a word with HETAS.

The aerial is really doing my head in to be honest as it knocks against the chimney when windy and wakes me in the night. The thing is I cant get anyone to come out who has a ladder long enough to reach it or I would do it myself. Everyone is very H & S pc - that's if you can get anyone to acknowledge such a job in the first place. And here was me thinking there was a recession on!

I have my bill but no receipt. I am happy with the work they have done but who knows.

I would get the certificate and plate as when you come to sell it will mean less hassle as you can prove properly installed.

I got a plate too & a pink copy. The plate is yet to be put up cos the wall which the elerctirity meter will be knocked down this summer so I'd rather keep it safe incase the builder loses it!
  • army 123 - did you write the "customer reviews" on that website yourself? The "English" used in all three of them sounds a little odd to me if I'm honest - almost as if it had been written by a foreign importer for instance!!
