want out of virgin...

We signed up to Virgin media 9 months ago when we moved homes because Sky would have taken too long and they were not very helpfull when we told them we were moving, BIG MISTAKE. Never mind the fact that they fill your home with wires or that it takes forever to get everything set up because you have to activate every service separately, but now that we are moving again (not our choice, owners are selling) we find that since the new house does not have cable we would have to downgrade to freeview or risk having to pay a £93.99 disconnection fee! well, surely if we signed uop to them for a tv package they no longer can provide we shouldn't have to pay them...or am I wrong?

Its not their fault your moving to a non cabled area, you signed up for a 12 month contract and they will hold you to that. I've heard some people have gotten out of their contract by subscribing to virgin national but I don't think its very competitive.
  • Thanks for your comment. I don't think it is a question of who's fault it is as it isnt anybodies really. But why cant we just move to virgin national until the end of our contract and then be free to make our own choice. What I find awful is that the choice is either we pay the £94 to get out of the contract or they will make us sign up for another 12 months on a virgin national contract...

At one time you could tell them you were moving out of area and they'd not hold you to contract, however lots of people were telling cable this when they weren't moving to get out of contract, so VM closed it.
