Just got back from a saturday night there. Great Hotel bit like the tardis it suddenly appeared from nowhere when walking down the street! Great lobby and bar, friendly staff, clean and quite vibrant atmosphere.
Couple of downsides, walls paper thin, woken by our next door neighbours having an argument, could hear everything
Very warm and a little uncomfortable and no way of controlling the room temperature.
Bad view, lol, but not that bothered by this until the rubbish lorry came at 5 am and the whole skip full of bottles that was outside and below our window went crashing into the lorry!!
Other than this was a great weekend away and worth a £1
Wouldnt have been happy at all though if id paid full price but a great find and i am nittpicking and just being honest so if anyone wants to check their room out before accepting it they know the downsides and can ask for a different one.0 -

If anyone has yet to go: We had two £1 rooms for 2 adults and 2 kids, twins (not next door to each other), total bill for dinner (steak, one course only, absolutely delicious although pretentiously served on a bread board) and breakfast and the room and extras was £103.
Its a really good price for a central London hotel even at £79, although the area is run down. I didnt feel particularly unsafe, but we were back in the hotel by 10.30pm. Rooms very nice but the mirror door in to the bathroom was cracked in two places (possibly installed that way?) although not dangerous. And the mini fridge didnt work in one room.
Only about 4 minutes walk to Old street tube, exit 3.
Would definitely go again.0 -
Heres my verdict:
Firstly, hearty thanks to the OP for the heads up:) - 2 rooms for £1 each!!!
In summary - ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!
I was impressed before I even left. I had been unable to book to rooms on the same night, so booked 2 at different days.
I thought I would be cheeky and call them to see whether I could get 2 rooms on the same night - and they obliged by moving one of my £1 rooms to a date when only £99 ones were available!
And they were both next door to each other!
The nearest Tube station was Old Gate and only 3 min walk - with plenty of buses catering for your city runs.
Plenty of fast food outlets with a minute or 2 from the Hoxton (useful if a burger, pizza, kebab or fried chicken is what you are after)
Agree with the other poster who said that the area was a little run down - it did noticeably get a little rowdy after 6pm when some unsightly characters started conregating on the corners of the streets.
The actual building is fanastic - the reception area is stunning - the staff were pleasant and the key system very efficient and hassel free.
I was quite impressed with the modern structure and design - and that extended to the actual rooms and showers - all in pristine condition. Spotless and all working.
I think the Plasma screen offered Freview channels, which were more than adequate for my needs.
Breakfast was a revelation - fruit; yougurt and juice from Pret:).
Lets face it, the highest class joint Ive ever been to is the Travelodge, so yu can forgive my salivating over the prospect of staying at the Hoxton.
The menu was not the sort that I fancy, but perhaps we'll try it next tie....because I will be using the Hoxton again. I may not be able to afford the rooms at full price, but if I can get hold of slightly discounted rooms, we'll be back.
Love d the shower room - very modern.
Something that was disconcerting was the couple in the opposite room who were.......very vocal in their activities:)- but soundproofing shouldnt be a worry!
