Ask them to make you an offer and encourage them to make it decent or you might just let the auction run. Put the ball back in their court.

I'm just worried that if i end the listing early i will damage my reputation for the other items...

thanks for all your help. i am going to email a price i would accept and then i am going to step away from the computer!!! Watching ebay is addictive!

Normally people who ask for BIN are after a bargain. They normally target new ebayers. I normally turn them down and tell the person that I want to see the auction out and they are welcome to bid.

Its your choice really but remember most bids will come in the last fe minutes of an auction

Not necessarily true!! - I saw a car newly listed on Monday (have been car hunting all weekend), asked if they had a BIN price and collected an hr later - meant I didn't have to wait til next week for it to finish and seller is happy as he has his money a week early.

Came home from collecting the car to find the seller of a summerhouse we were after about 20 mins ago had given a BIN price, we went straight on to pay for it, collected it yesterday and I had breakfast in it this morning - again, both parties happy, hubby was off work yesterday so meant he had the time to do it and seller happy as he wanted shot of it.

I wasn't after a bargain in either instances, I was after something when I wanted it rather than waiting, if the seller of the car didn't have a price then I would have found an alternative ending sooner then next week - and neither of the sellers were new ebayers either.

update: i emailed back a price i would be happy with and the potential buyer has agreed to it and may also be interested in another of my listings (the two listings could go together). They have given me their telephone number and would like to come and see the items....

ps they have a good feedback score if that helps...

eds apple blossom - how did the seller sort out payment? and how did he end his auction early? I've been reading about the whole transacting outside of ebay fraud thing :o
