    Hi All,

Can days off sick and lates affect being made redundant?

    Thanks.
    Absolutely.
Any employer that does not consider this would be mad.

If the number of employees is depleting due to redundancy, they would be pretty silly not to keep the most reliable and the ones with the best attendance.

Obviously there is other criteria, but these are right up there.
however I have been late on occassion particualry over the winter months when road conditions were quite poor
I wouldn't worry about that too much.

The reason I asked my original question is due to the fact that I received a promotion two years, however there were and are two people within the department already at the same level as me and they have been there for 5 years each. However during my two years each of the two has been off at least 6-7 months (there is a history between the two) each and their attendance record is well known for being poor, however I'm wondering due to the fact that they have been in their role for 5 years will this have a bearing?

Yes but LIFO (Last In First Out) should be waaaaay down the last of criteria. It is alongside FIFO (First.............) and neither should be used as the sole deciding factor.

I think they have more to worry about than you do. In my experience companys need reliable employees who turn up to work and can be guaranteed to be there.

All the time off sick that they have will have been noticed.
