Thanks.

    Yes.

They can include them in the selection criteria.

    Thanks, that confirms my thoughts.

I've had no day off sick since I started working for the company, however I have been late on occassion particualry over the winter months when road conditions were quite poor. Oh well if their going to use that against me so be it.

If lateness is the only thing on your ' record' I wouldn't worry about it. There are another 15-20 criteria they are supposed to use as well, including sickness, future potential, ability, disciplinary record, geographical location, LIFO, etc etc.

Once had to make a few people redundant when I worked for a large retailer. It took me a looooooong time applying all the criteria but , as difficult as it was telling people, at least I could say I had done it fairly and not based it on ' personal preference'. Hopefully your current employer will do the same and it won't be you who is picked. If it is, ask how they arrived at their decision.

  • Thanks guys.

I've worked here for over three years and I think I have about 15 lates to my name totalling about 45 minutes.

Have you had any disciplinary action taken against you? If not, the lateness is not an issue. If you have, then you now fall foul of two criteria but again, I wouldn't unduly worry about that.

MAKE DAMN SURE YOU GET TO WORK ON TIME OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl:

I had a lateness interview on each occassion, that is company policy, however there was never any action taken as they indicated that there was no cause for concern.

Not that I'm saying it's 100% but I would think you'll be perfectly OK. Be impossible for them to say it's you on the grounds of lateness if they have not taken any disciplinary action. The 'cosy chats' are pretty common now and do not constitute action.

Good Luck , hope it all works out for you.

That is only an average of 3 minutes late on EACH occassion - I really can not see them using that against you.

If they have already told you that your lateness was no cause for concern they I would not worry about it.

It may be one factor out of many but if everything else is fine and you really do not have anything to worry about.

It your lateness was a concern then they should have taken action ages ago. They have not and as such I would believe that it is not seen as a major problem.

If you were late all the time, always off sick and always in trouble I would start to worry but as it sound like you are not I do not think you have reason for concern.

    Good luck.
