Hehe, love to know how you think I've lost out, when it's eBay who will no longer be making any money from me :rotfl:Interesting logic there my friend! I can easily take my business elsewhere. They can't raid my pockets for money :D
The money you make for them is going to be loose change it wont even be noticeable. They have users signing up constantly you wont be missed as much as you think you are you are not important to ebay. I don't think you leaving is really going to affect their profits.

I don't get your problem, they have that policy in place to protect YOU from spammers?

And why can't you choose a different username?

Can't understand why somebody would waste so much time and energy over something so stupid.
 Think happy & you'll be happy

If they indeed had that policy then it would be tough on me changing my name to smith!

I don't see it as overruling law, their policy merely adds extra measures that happen to be stricter then the law. IF they want to do that they can, if there is a confliction, then they and you have two options, close the account or stay as you are. Are either of those options breaking the law? No, of course not.

Whilst annoying it may be, your rant and rave make it seem like ebay must bend over backwards and incur expenses to serve your pathetic and unnecessary request when you admittedly, barely use their service!

Asking them to change an OLD email address to my NEW email address is hardly 'pathetic and unnecessary'. It's perfectly necessary as the old address is now invalid. I would have done it myself if their system allowed me, but it didn't. Again, that's their problem, not mine. All they've ended up doing is peeing off a customer, who will take their business elsewhere. Hardly a satisfactory resolution to the problem!

I think it's sad that you feel people changing their personal details to match to their current situation is 'stupid'. Policy to protect me from spammers? I seem to have got away with that for the last year with my old email address. I couldn't choose a different username because the one I wanted was already in use. Unless of course you think I should take any old username I don't actually want, just to keep eBay happy :D

To fund your requests it would probably cost more in time, effort etc than they make off you. Even if not, why would they care to lose one person when thousands more flock there daily.

I love cyberbobs cliche! I think it perfectly sums you up.

Fingers crossed then that the unnecessary man hours it's taken to sort this out has cost them more than they've ever made from me... they deserve it! If they want the 22p they say I owe them it'll be going in the biggest envelope I can find, in pennies, with no postage. Hehehe, that'll serve them right for being such silly !!!!!!s over this.
