Oh wear loose underwear too and don't put any strong bubble baths in the bath for awhile to it clears up. And whatever you do, do not itch it! Mine went really bad, like chapped skin! Nasty!0

You can get the stuff on prescription but it's quite a hassle especially if you're suffering you just want it sorted asap!0

Yea I thought of going to the Dr's at the time, but me being me was worried incase they wanted a look! lol nooooway ho say would I want that!0

The active ingredient in canesten is clotrimazole - maybe worth asking the chemist if they have the 'own brand' version of it rather than paying for the advertising!!
Also, putting natural (unsweetened, uncoloured, unflavoured) yoghurt on your bits helps0 -
And I was just thinking that you sounded a lot less hung up about things, although I can quite understand that one!0

I seem to be quite susceptible to Thrush and Cystitus once it takes hold:mad:
I think for me it was that last week I ate alot of sugary things and was feeling a bit run down, the last time I had it I was breastfeeding and it was awful I kept treating it and then 2 days later it would be back it got so bad I thought I was going to lose a nipple:eek: sorry way too much info:rotfl:
The doctors didn't know what to do with me last time so I went and saw a nutritionist who put me on a yeast and sugar free diet, combined with some herbal supplement beginning with A (is it agnus castus?) and all underwear was changed to cotton with all underwear, bedding and towels washed at 60 degrees. I had hoped that I wouldn't have to resort to such drastic measures again and that as I hadn't had it for ages it would just clear up........... but oh no everything I bl$$dy get is complicated!!!:mad:0 -
Did you treat yourself and your baby when you had it breastfeeding? If not then that might be why it came back. Not tmi for me, I'm a breastfeeding Peer Supporter so I hear it all!
Hope you can get it sorted out quickly, Natural yoghurt is soothing and healing, and I know it sounds gross but freezing yoghurt into little lolly sticks can really help take the edge off.0 -
Yes we were both treated but it was very difficult to get rid of, I was advised by a fellow mum to see this nutritionist as she had suffered the same. I had a similar problem in my teens with cystitus I couldn't get rid of it and was sent to hospital for tests and tests and more tests but nothing they tried worked until it went on its own.
Oh the joy of being female:(0 -
I went through a period of getting thrush and it was my body's way of telling me that I was eating too much sugar and yeast. I had to cut them out of my diet completely to prevent growth.
To self medicate you can try the following: a tampon dunked in natural live yoghurt, a garlic clove inserted (garlic is a brilliant natural anti-fungal so try and eat lots of it), a pessary (I buy mine on line as they're much cheaper than the chemist) combined with the tablet and cream.4.30: conduct pigeon orchestra...0
