Can't reach 18866 or 1899 sites? Is it just me?

I'm getting (in Firefox browser)
"The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.call.1899.co.uk"
and similar for 18866.
In Internet Explorer I get
"we can't find www.call1899.co.uk"
Is it just me?
Had a recent broadband regrade and wondered if that had caused a problem. I am able to access a lot of other sites with no problem.
Thanks.

No, both appear to be down at the moment. I was going to register with 18866 as well.0
-
I also received the same messages this morning when trying to access 1899 via NTLworld dial-up connection.0

There is another thread on this topic. Apparently
1) Both sites have been down since last night.
2) There has been an article in the Guardian.
3) There were some security concerns from other members.
Related? High demand?
Meanwhile I cannot test/tell whether my dialler has been configured correctly.Sound as a pound! :cool:0 -

If you put '18866' or '1899' in the forum search field it brings up a list.
The article in the Guardian was not a bad report, it just publicised the service to all and sundry!Sound as a pound! :cool:0 -
The service is still working; and even if it fails, it's postpaid.
What is there to panic about?0 -
Thanks Foxy.
Andy, 'Postpaid' yes, but by noncancelable credit card regular payment. Still, not to worry yet!!0 -
