We (4 adults, 1 child, 1 baby) are off on 2 week holiday to France (self catering in a Gite) Friday and I want to use up stuff in my fridge before we go.
I've loads of eggs, do you think I could make a quiche Thursday and take it with me? Would it survive the journey (overnight). Plan to leave Friday afternoon and will be stopping in UK before getting ferry Saturday morning. Should arrive at Gite mid afternoon. If not, what should I do with the eggs (10)?
I plan to take potatoes/carrots etc that cannot be used up before we go and can make salad/sandwiches for journey with other stuff in fridge.
I've a coolbox and plenty of freezer blocks.

If I had a cool-box I'd take everything with me, cooked or uncooked.0

Quiche should be fine, hard-boiled eggs would keep longer though imo0

Me too - i;d just take the eggs as they are. Do something with them when you get there.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Thanks for repies & suggestions.
I thought about hard boiling them, but only hubby likes them. Me and DGS like the whites only, and DD and SIL not too keen on them - I also think they are rather pongy when hb!
Thought about taking them as is, but am a bit wary of ending up with a soggy box of broken ones when we get there!
If I run out of time to make quiche, I'll just take them as is."It is always the best policy to speak the truth-unless, of course, you are an exceptionally good liar." - Jerome K Jerome0 -
You could make your quiche, cook and freeze it and then pack it into your cool box. By the time you arrive it will be defrosted and ready to eat. We do a similar journey to you and I always take a frozen bolognaise or lasagne, it's an easy, quick dinner for when you arrive

How about a tortilla or thick Spanish Omlette instead? More robust than a quiche and can be eaten hot or cold.0
