Do furniture repairers fix sofa springs?

Options
Just wanting an idea of whether its worth trying to get our sofa repaired.

We cant really afford a new one, this sofa is 13 years old, originally from Ikea. the zig zag springs at each end of the sofa (where we sit) have broken some time ago and my back has been getting worse and worse. OH has now stuffed some 2x2 into the base, between the base and the springs for support which is absolutely excruciating.

I had researched how to change the zig zag springs, but apparently we have to fix the d clip in the wood of the base and we cant get to it because we would have to go in via the top and the cover is fixed, we cant see any way of getting to it.

would a furniture repairer be able to do this without wrecking the sofa? what do you think it would cost? i know that the springs are only about £1.70 each and we need 2 but obviously its their time etc

yes, thats where i got my 'instructions' from which then caused a row indoors because OH said its impossible.

we cant see any way of getting the fabric off the sofa, there are no visible staples or tacks and i cant see how it would go back on again using our own skills

what would it cost do you think for a professional to do this?
