Orange credit won't show, totally fed up with it

Six weeks ago I bought a brand new PAYG phone and SIM card from the Orange website. I had trouble activating the phone and had to visit an Orange shop (who were totally unhelpful and just rang the customer services phone number and passed the phone to me to explain the problem) and phone several more times before the phone finally acknowledged that it had a SIM card in it.

When I checked the SIM card balance it says it has 1p credit. I paid for £10 credit when I bought it so again I have phoned and phoned to register it and get the credit added. Every time they take the SIM card number and tell me it will be added in 24-48 hours and IT STILL HASN'T WORKED. I even got a text message from Orange saying here is £1 free credit as a welcome to Orange and even that hasn't been applied.

I am sick of phoning up and having the same conversation and phoning 453 to hear I still have 1p credit.

What can I do?

Go to an orange shop and give them the voucher and ask for it to be added to your account

Hi, I don't have a voucher. When you buy a new phone and SIM card the price you pay includes £10 credit. All I have is my delivery note.

Write them a Letter Before Action and tell them that if they don't either add the credit or pay you the cost back within 7 days you will commence legal procedings to cover the loss, plus court fees.

And then complain to head office (with a copy sent to the store manager) about the incompetence of their staff.

Thanks, legal action seems a bit harsh. I was thinking more along the lines of who else I could contact to get it all to work, or whether I might be able to get a refund.

As it was my first ever visit to an Orange shop, I then assumed that they are only there for selling and not helping out with queries. If they are actually supposed to help me in the shop rather than phoning the same customer services that I can phone at home, then I'll try going to a different shop.
