aww thankyou, After all the help I have had here the last few weeks, the least I can do is help make some cards
Has anyone received any parcels from me today?Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
Because I was childless for a few hours today I really wanted to maximise what I was going to achieve.
I decided to read and mind map 2 business books that are due for a mates "book of the month" - he sends a book extract and a mind map out to his database every month.
The next two are "Good to Great" by Jim Collins and "The Fred Factor" by Mark Sanborn. The first being a 300 page book compiled by 25 researchers over 5 years and the second being a slip of a book at only 115 pages of much larger type too:D)
Result - 3 hours, 2 books read and mindmapped ................. and a huge AHA moment for Memorygirl (Isn't funny where they come from?)
From the larger, and drier MBA tome - came an interesting section, referencing Aesops fable of the hedgehog and the fox. Where the hedgehog has only one large idea and pusues it fanatically - food!! whereas the fox runs around, gets distracted, gets chased by a dog, hides and in the end goes to bed hungry.
Out of that the author creates an interesting graphic of three interlocking rings as a model for a great company.
1. What are you deeply passionate about?
You don't get passionate about what you do - you do what you are passionate about.
For me this about speaking and sharing with people how easy and how much fun learning actually is when you are simply shown how. With that of course comes better grades, better options, better choices, better productivity - a better life because they understand how to do it. I did this even when I wasn't being paid for it, simply because I am passionate abut equipping people with these skills - so that they can go on to have fantastic lives.
2. What can you be the best in the world at?
Not what could you be the best at? Because thats pretty much anything and its to woolly - but what can you be the best at. Looking at your strengths and weaknesses and being brutally frank and honest with yourself.
Well I can be a World Champion - in fact I have been, 5 times over. No-one else has done that before or since. And I have never been defeated.
3. What drives your economic engine?
Has to be profit per customer - because I am in the direct communication business. Which gives me a big push to develop and finish the products I have been requested in the past - things like tailored versions of the book for instance - so that my Raving Fans can come back again and again for specifc niche solutions.
All this he then refers back to the hedgehog - remember him??? How you've got to get to the position where your focus is on "One Big Thing"
So - if my thinking is right I need to get laser sharp focus on
1. Being a passionate speaker and communicator
2. In my sphere of mental literacy where I AM THE BEST IN THE WORLD
3. To deliver huge benefits to my new friends by providing them with perfect solutions to their challenges in learning, change management and productivity.
So all the rest of the fluffy stuff can now wander away. I am a hedgehog with one big idea and one single focus in my head.
Who's betting Firewalker comes on here and says "about b****y time young lady!!!!!":rotfl::rotfl:
So fellow hedghogs - can you answer these three questions and in the end define "whats your one big idea?"
Memorygirl

I'm currently attempting my first EVER mind map. I'm hoping it'll help me understand and remember something for work, but with 6 main branches and 117 bits of information, I'm wondering if it's too much. Gonna need a bigger piece of paperIs it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Just heard on the news that Bob Winston has been awarded a Nobel Prize:j:j
Two reasons I am pleased
1. He is a hedgehog with a true "one big thing" - his work in fertility.
2. It means I have slept with a Nobel Prize winner - no not like that:D:rotfl::rotfl::D, but we did both have an afternoon nap in the same press office at the Mind Sports Olympiad one year.
Congratulations Dr Bob:T:T:T
