Whew!!! What a day........ still I work on the theory that if you wake up grumpy............. you may as well ask him to do your cleaning for you :rotfl:

Still got my capsule wardrobe hanging around my 4-poster - there seems to be so little clothes there, but I will just have to trust that this "wear more" thingie actually works.

BTW - how does it work??? Do I approach this a bit like meal planning??? You know, look at the weeks diary and then decide what we are having when???

I will report in each morning what I'm wearing - then if I get a bored or stuck you can all help me............. OMG!!! There are 2 dresses and 2 skirts up there - I don't remember the last time I didn't wear trousers (OH yes I do - the wedding last weekend, and the frock was a real hit)

Decided to trade one pair of heels for a pair of flat toe-post sandals (to be traded in for a pair of ankle boots when the weather gets a bit ropey again) Apart from that, I'm def keeping my 3/4 jeans as they have been a great addition to my summer wardrobe - again traded in for decent jeans when the weather turns.

Wish me luck on this MSE inspired adventure :T:T

Till the morning peeps - time to bath the baby, feed the hoardes and make popcorn for the sleepover. Oh yes!!!!! and find some fake tan for my legs if skirts are the way we are heading :rotfl:

I think it works best if you have 3 neutrals and 1 bright, thats how they mix and match better. I am trying to go for black, navy, cream and red. I think you may have too many colours, you have mushroom, black, navy blue, denim blue, green, white, cream, brown leather . As I say I have more than this in many colours to add to, but this is what I will work to when I do need to buy something new. Sorry, this sounds like I'm preaching, I will step down from my soapbox, and sit quietly with a cup of tea :o

Ah that makes sense - I think I will aim for ............Mmmmmmm

Denim - as one of my neutrals (sorry but still a SAHM of 2 boys so the fabric is the one that works best for me)

Navy as my other base - so will have a root in my fabric stash to make navy trousers and a navy wrap dress.

Mid range brown as my other neutral

Turquoisy green as my accent (makes me look great)

    Off to have a shuffle.

I've never watched Gok (as I'm fat I don't watch any fashiony programmes) so have no idea how to Gok a wardobe - how does one do this?:o Remembering, of course, that any new wardrobe must have room for a hat - MG.....

And congratulations on your good news MG.

I was like you when I was young - no interest in boys & no intentions of getting married at all - ClootiesDad came along - as my boss - once he broke up with his fiancee we started going out together, 2 weeks later I moved in & 24 yrs of marriage later we're both still here...........so you never know

    Thanks for that Clootie Mum

Gok's mantra for this season is "Buy Less. Wear More" - its about creating a capsule wardrobe of 24 pieces that mix n match. 24 key pieces that make you look fabuous and reflect your personality.

................ erm!!! mine is still a work in progress and I'm going to have to make a few things when the stuff I have wears out.

He starts by working out your body shape - I'm a 12ish all over with big boobs - so wrap styles work well for me, I'm also quite tall so he shows how to dress to enhance and distract from your erm!!! assets.:D

I like the idea of being able to shop with alist of what I need to complete my capsule wardrobe from the Charity shops - instead of thinkinf OOOOhhhh that looks lovely and spending precious pennies.

Even if I was only spending £2.50 per week in the charity shops - I could still save £125 over the course of the year, by NOT needing to shop becasue I look fabulous in everything I wear.

BTW I've got a copy of his book if you want aquick lookie later

OK "Gokettes" - Today I am wearing.................

A denim knee-length skirt from Next
A denim blue wrap cardigan from Gap
A turqoise vest top from Atmosphere (thats Matalan I think)
    Chunky metal necklace from Primark
Strappy leather sandals -from South Africa
    Leather bag and sunglasses
    Denim Jacket from Next

BTW I am actually wearing make-up too (Just to complete the effect you understand.

Total cost of todays outfit £14.48.

    ...................... actually - give me a moment...................

Total cost of my ENTIRE capsule wardrobe £70.39:T:T:T

I make my cost per day 19p. (£70.39/365)

Thats brilliant - you can't even get a tin of tomatoes for that these days.

My target between now and Christmas is to keep the clothing spends to less than the £100 in total - now thats going to take some clever shopping.

    Pheeewwww...!!
    Finally caught up!

Hold on a minute while I catch my breath!

I love all the book ideas, and don't have much of a clue how to chose between them. MG, like your list of chapters, though for me part of the joy is in the chit chat and suddenly findng random jewels in amongst the fun (and the pain - but we won't go into TMI ;)) (hope you're feeling better?).
I guess this is an important difference in the way we think: you structure things, and that's your strength (can't imagine where you got that from, LOL) and I ... don't. Not much, anyway. I see a lot of appeal in presenting it as light reading, chattery sort of thing that people could learn from either by reading seriously and mentally taking notes, or by a sort of osmosis.
Michelle's thoughts on it appealed to me. :)

I'm very much looking forward to 'meeting' your future DH. ;) Sooo exciting! Does he come with the big cheque or does that come first?

By the way, I am going to have a look at the contents of my wardrobe in a minute - not what I had planned at all. :D I think I have a fairly workable capsule (everything goes with jeans, LOL) but there are a few things in there I may never use again and am just being sentimental about.:cry: Not sure I am ready to let them all go, but there's always the loft. :D

Have you tried the trick where you put a tag on each hanger with the date on and remove it when you use the item? Anything that's still got a tag on after six months (and is for the appropriate season, of course) is probably never going to get worn and can leave for a new home elsewhere. (I haven't done this for a couple of years, perhaps need to re-do?)

    Debt-free and Proud!
My only problem with Gok's 24 pieces wardrobe is that you have to wear the same clothes for work and play. I understand his concept but, psychologically, I need to wear different clothes for work (where I can't wear jeans for instance), so a sort of work uniform, and then I have my clothes for when I'm not at work, clearly signally that it's down time.

So yesterday after reading your posts, I when through my wardrobe using the principle of not keeping things I don't wear for whatever reason, but didn't really follow all of Gok's rules but then that's me, I'm a rebel at heart lol! And now I'm panicking slightly because I'm missing some pieces! :rotfl:

Oh, and I find myself with lots of spare coat hangers.. that I'll probably be able to donate to my dd aka The Queen Of Shopping At Primark ;)
