Happy birthday Crickett :bdaycake:
My copy of Feel the Fear arrived this morning. I now seriously have too many books I want to read. I havent read this many books in years, but cant put them down. DH says I keep walking round, preaching from The Secret like it's the bibleI cant explain it, but since I started reading it, I have felt so much happier.
Very strange :cool:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

I like Feel the fear - probably more than the secretshhh
I also have a NLP book, thanks to El and another psychology book i love by Sarah Edelman- called Change your thinking. Good stuff.
I like homespun philosophy as well and have a little collection of sayings i can draw on at times.
If it inspires you then it is good-Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Claire, it's fab. I'm not sure I understand quite why I feel so happy. Happiness has scared me a bit for years, assumed that if I got too happy, something awful would happen. Now I sound mad dont I
Oohh thanks for that Bob, will have to treat myself when I've finished the ones I've got :cool:Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

Hmm decisions decisions...
Do I do the entry level tax course (ATT - 4 exams) or the hard one (CTA/CIOT - 6 exams)...?
How on earth do you remember a pack of cards??? x0 -
I remember watching a programme with the Feel the Fear author - think it was on C4 last year ....
She's one tough lady and even overcame cancer with her attitude. One thing I took away from that was whatever the challenges she faced her saying was"I can handle it"
The book is very good and down to earth. I've only seen The Secret DVD, and it seemed like a Hollywood version of Louise Hay - but it's all good0 -
I'm going to have a good search this weekend as I think I probably already have your study skills book! Having moved recently I've only done a vague book sort out so it will give me a chance to organise and declutter a bit more!2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0

No you don't sound mad at all.Boiler pot £30.92/£10000 -
I wouldn't be volunteering my handbag to Memorygirl. The tidy version now has a notepad with mind maps of to-do lists and ideas for perfect days/weeks....i.e personal, not to be shared with a room full of people at a conference:o.
But if I knew about the plan in advance I'd do up a handbag specially for her...a large one with an overloaded make up bag and loads of other stuff in it......just to make it fun for her:D
I'd love to watch the Secret DVD but I've never bought it because it's really expensive, as in €30, strange because dvd's are usually inexpensive unless they are new releases.
I've been reading MG's book, the mind mapping section is excellent, I understand much better how to do it now. :T
I'm undecided about the speed reading, I love the idea and I'll practice it here and with newspapers over the weekend but I'm not sure how to apply it to my law books. Some paragraphs of legal documents are really complicated and can require help from the law dictionary to understand what some of the words even mean. If I don't understand I can't speedread...is that correct?Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -
Thank you all for my lovely birthday wishes. I have had a super dooper day. After I had my shower, I had a visitation from my mother in law and sister in law's hubby and got even MORE lovely pressies.
Chatsworth was gorgeous; they had a modern art safari round the garden and we went to see loads of sculptures. I didn't think I would like alot of them (I am a traditional kind of girl!) but I loved some of them. The weather was superb. After we had gone round the gardens, we went to a village called Cromford and visited a bookshop called Scarthin books. It is amazing. Every wall and every surface is floor to ceiling books. There are old books next to new ones and "previously loved" books next to the latest bestseller. It is my idea of heaven. I managed to find two scores of pieces the choir are going to be doing in the next few seasons, both of which were published in 1923 and have pencil markings of all the singers who have used it before. And I found the music which some of AA Milnes poems were set to, and also a book aobut Abraham Lincoln and some of his writings and papers. Oh, and I found a copy of "Eat, Love, Pray" which has caught me already!
This has got to be one of the best birthdays ever.
Well, I also did a lot of constructive thinking of the challenge as well. I decided that what I love most is being imaginative and creative. I was (and still am) happiest when using my creative side and exercising my imagination. When I was little I would read, I would write stories, I would play with lego and meccano and build things. I wanted to be an engineer (until a nice head mistress told me my maths was crap and I couldn't do physics as a GCSE option. Mmmm. I am now an accountant and deal with numbers every day. Go me!!) And the days at work when I am happiest are the days when I have come up with an innovative solution to a management or strategic or accounting problem. And my hobbies are all creative as well. So, I think I might have nailed that particular challenge!!
LOL!
