Memorygirls - Make Do and Mend

  • Good evening Memorygirl, good evening all,

I thought that tonight I will share some of the things that have been happening to me lately: some are semi-serious, others encouragingly so. Here it comes:

    1) I will have to re-write my dream week; I didn’t dream – I created a plan. Unfortunately for my men this plan involves masses of writing, but no cooking or cleaning at all.
    2) In retrospect, organising my wallet probably should have taken longer than 50 seconds. I had managed to swap the places of my debit and charge cards which promoted a situation which some of the customers in Aldi found amusing and others annoying.
    3) Last night I had a five pound note in my purse and realised that it has been there forever. But money has to flow and move, I thought. So today I bought a nice winter cycling jacket – and money flows.
    4) For the last couple of months my mantra has been ‘I am a magnet for good will and prosperity’. I seem to be doing really well on the ‘good will’ part. Off to Washington on Saturday to talk to people heading research funding agencies controlling billions of dollars. Also the absolutely top academics in a particular area not only accepted to take part in a workshop I am organising but sound really keen and interested (note: politeness is not part of academic duty). Prosperity will come!
    5) Last night OH got rather worried when one of the brainstorming ideas for reaching our financial target for the 30 days was ‘people pay him loads to have dinner with me’. I had quite a bit of explaining to do.

I also had an AHA this week. It is: “Make sure that you always look better after your assets than after your possessions.” This made me realise that I look much better after my shoes than after my health and wellbeing. So today I had a haircut, eyebrows threaded, did my circuits and went for a really nice no hands massage. And I won’t do scruffy any longer – although wearing colour is someway off.

    My day totally rocked!

    Keep well

Wow, this latest challenge is hard, hard, hard :(:( I feel like my life has been taken away over recent years and I can't remember who I was, what I wanted to be. This is going to take some real releasing of huge blocks I've put up since I was a child.....phew!

It is supposed to be hard, kittikins, that is why it is called a challenge - so you push your boundaries, dig deep to find what you really want, and deal with the emotions that all of that releases.

But the good thing is, that it is all very positive stuff, as you release and deal with any negativity along the way. Stick with it, and be amazed at what you achieve going forward x

Firewalker - great post.....glad your day rocked, and here's to another rocking day very soon!!

I wanted to be a politician:D:o. So glad that it didn't turn out to be like that:rotfl:. My father used to tell me that everyone will hate me if I become one and my answer as a sensitive and most of the time grumpy teenager was that nothing would change than:D.

MG, yes, I think you should pm martin with the book and bank account details, def don't send it for free;).
  • My daily challenge for mr b today is to come up with a one hour - after dinner/ 1 hour talk on memory, that is entertaining, informative, funny and memorable.

i'm inspired by a pack of pink las vegas cards that was sent to me in my "car package" - what do you guys think about basing it around the "how to memorise a pack of cards"???

  • Morning all. Sitting at home in my dressing gown with a great big grin on my face. Haven't read the latest challenge yet, but going off there after here. I am intrigued...! :)

Its my birthday today, and hubby has been fab with his pressies. :D Really, really fab! :D My craft room now has a CD player (so I can rehearse my Bach Magnificat whilst embroidering and quilting :)), I have my own hymnal (the ones we have at Church are knackered and usually taken by others! Woo hoo.. I can sing the hymns with music in front of me!! :) ) and he bought me the most fabulous encyclopeadia (sorry, spelt wrong) of plants! I am a very happy Crickett! Soon to go into the shower and get dressed for a day out in Derbyshire and tromping around Chatsworth.

I think the pack of cards thing would be great - the sort of thing people would love to be able to "show off" to others, and presumably if you can memorise a pack of cards, you can memorise practically anything!

Also......had a thought about your mindmapping, getting "out there" etc. Are you on youtube? Can you do some mindmapping demos on there that last just a few mins?

Happy Birthday Crickett, what lovely thoughtful presents, your OH has surpassed most men (*disclaimer - in my opinion only, I'm sure there are lots of men who have imaginations, just I was married to the world's worst present-giver ;) )

MG - great idea with the cards, have you been banned from every casino in Vegas yet? I'd love to know how to memorise a pack of cards, don't know why as I'm not a gambler, but I remember being intrigued by a Roald Dahl story when I was a child :0)

Going to tackle my demons and sit down with the latest challenge today. Having slept on it and slept off the vino I had last night with a girly chum, I'm in a better place, hopefully!
