MG,
In response to Mr Big's request for feedback re the books - I bought both, and I would have been happy to pay £16 for the Student Survival Guide which wins out in the attractiveness (and memorable-ness) stakes as it is full colour throughout.
Suggestions for the next print run:
1) I believe it is possible to have a spine binding which opens out flatter, without stressing the spine. I wouldn't suggest spiral binding as you would lose the visual impact on bookshelves of the title and author details on the spine - which often jump out at me when browsing in bookshops, or for locating books here at home.
2) The size is just right - for popping in schoolbags, briefcases or handbags.
3) Any chance of the business version being produced in full glorious technicolor next time it is printed? And of course when reprinted and fully updated, your websites, email etc would be in both books. And there would be an ebook version - and Kindle.
4) Other products - online videos, or dvd's to buy showing mindmaps being created etc would be great. Also, dvd's would exploit the use of sound, rhythm and song to aid memory. I'm sure you're well ahead with these sort of ideas... a children's box game based on memory would be fun and educational.
I did some brain dumping today and have 6 mindmaps of future possibilities for myself - they didn't take long and were such fun to do! My notebook is in my handbag to capture arising ideas...
The last few days (since Sunday) have been literally miraculous for me. A new life with new possibilities is under serious consideration, and there have been some incredible synchronicities pointing the way forward. This Sunday I go to Aberdeen for the next step in the process (a development which only presented itself this afternoon), with more to come later in the month.
It's true to say, that when you change focus/perception, your world changes and flow happens. I'm just beginning to experience exactly that - for which I have you and Mr Big to thank. If you have a talent, use it in every which way possible. Don't hoard it. Don't dole it out like a miser. Spend it lavishly like a millionaire intent on going broke.

Just realized that actually I have one of MG's books on my shelf. Can't say that I'm good at mind mapping but hey, I will give it another go once I get the other book. I loved the letter from Mr Big, looking forward to the next one:)0

Hi MG and posse!
I did some mind maps today, I'm reading ahead for my PGCE which starts in a week. I love them they're so colourful and fun to make and much faster than boring linear notes. I am planning to only use MMs to take notes in my lectures etc this year.
I definitely think you can put the price up. I have on my desk a very similar book to yours by Tony Buzan and the RRP is £12.99. If you sell yours for £10, you're saying to the world: I'm the poor man's Tony Buzan... I'm like Tony Buzan but slightly worse quality... IYKWIM?
Of course, a lot of us are DFWs so you can sell to us lot at a slightly discounted rate, yes?Quote code "MRB1G" at the checkout :rotfl:

Mr Big's challenge--elimination list:
This one's easy fo me, what I really need gone is the debt and the clutter, stacks of magazines, bags of clothes and all sorts of random stuff under the stairs. Maybe cut back on the cosmetics/clothes but I don't want to eliminate those, I like them. I guesse I could add that I want to eliminate the worrying about how I'll pay for bigger bills like the car insurance. And could I eliminate health problems like sleepless nights please:D
I don't smoke and drink very rarely. I don't need to loose weight.
I'm happy with the people in my life.
The list of things I want to add to my life is much longer.
I might think of a few more things to add over the weekend.Total debt 11/1/2011 €5350.65Total debt 12/12/12 €3222.31CrazyClothesChallenge 2013 #006 €34.08/€5000 -
Hi memory girl, another lurker coming out of the woodwork - its all soundng really good.
Could you possibly pm me with the book details, I think this would be perfect for me, and get me out of the sickness rut that I am trolling around in - mind mapping sounds like the ideal technique to open my brain back up to the world.
I agree with the other posters, you are inspirational and I truly believe that anyone can achieve anything if they set their mind to it. We all have different skills and strengths, the trick is to value yourself and use your skills to the best of your ability to achieve your goals.

I sat and did my elimination mind map this evening :T Strangely enough, I really struggled to think of things to go on it! I worried about this for a while, then realised that last Christmas I sat down and wrote a list of 1 month, 3 month and 6 month goals for each area of my life (home, garden, health, money, PhD, work, voluntary work, and 'cheery' :rotfl:) and I've been crossing them off and updating them all year :T Haven't quite made everything, but I had a goal to hand in my notice by the end of June - and in fact started my fab new job on 1st June :T I also had a goal for paying off my couple of mini debts - both will be gone by the end of next month :T We've also got a big council tax refund, bought a new car, swapped gas and electric suppliers :T I'm exercising (relatively :rotfl:) regularly, *nearly* finished PhD, kept hand in on a couple of voluntary projects (and left another one because it took up too much time and energy), done lots of things to the garden and house, and all kinds of other things! :j
So in fact, my elimination list was quite small because I've already taken quite a lot of steps to get rid of things that aren't so cheery :j
(:rotfl: just realised I didn't put my PhD on there! :rotfl: I very definitely want shot of that by next December :rotfl:) Hmm, maybe I'll have to sneak open the envelope and do it againOr perhaps I'll leave that one there, and do a more considered one too. Hmm, will have a think about that.
Sat and did a couple of mind maps about garden related jobs I want to get done too, and what I want the garden to look like/be/give me :j Very satisfying it was too! I use mind maps a lot, but really mostly just with one pen. Giving free reign to coloured pencils was very satisfying indeed! :j :j0 -
Hi there,
My elimination list was non-existent too Cheery. All that is left for me to do is to complete the £100.00 to £10,000.00 challenge and this thread is really helping me. So thanks.
I am an Olympic athlete (not literally), as I suspect all on this thread are.
I was a Senior Manager at what used to be the biggest company in the world, renowned for having top class managers (think Jack Welch). I saw the Stock Market crash coming and got all my money out just off the top, so that beats many of the top investors in the world. I had been thinking want, but actually I have no debt, savings and a tiny mortgage. I live in a beautiful house, in an amazing part of the world and I have a wonderful family and friends.
My plan for turning my now £2,500.00 into £10,000.00 was to set up a company, which I have done, come up with an idea, which I have done and market it locally. I know I would have made that money easily, because I have the right mind set now, but reading the last challenge I realise that I was setting my targets far too low.
In the spirit of Napoleon Hill, I have created a Master Mind Group, which basically taps into your sub-conscious and allows you to get ideas from all sorts of minds outside of your own. One member of my Master Mind Group is Andrew Carnegie. So I asked my Sub-Conscious Carnegie what I was worth, and he said £2,500.00 per hour.
And the idea that my Master Mind Group has come up with, if you can suspend disbelief, is that we should all create a company together, and market it so well that everyone would want to invest in us, and they would profit from our success.
I think it would work and that we could all get that hourly rate, if we worked together, in the way Napoleon Hill suggests.
Well that is my suggestion :rotfl:.
Good night all xx.0
