Much better. Our house is teeny-tiny (one bedroom, bathroom, lounge, kitchen, utility), so I try to do it all outside. It was raining at the weekend though, so I had to do it in the lounge, right in front of the TV, as it is about the only space in the house people don't have to walk through. That meant it was sitting there 'watching' me all weekend as it dried! Oh to have a spare room and be able to hide my projects away... I am lucky in so many ways though, that one will just have to wait.

Some people pay a fortune for satellite telly to watch DIY makeover programmes you know :rotfl::rotfl:

Erm! Spare room is the empty space where I haven't got the new walls put up - so not exactly a usable space for anything else - but a girl can dream :o

Oh dear, if it is from a join try sticking Plumbers Mait round the thread, it is like unhardening putty.

I tried it last night on my hot water cylinder but it's looking very much like I will have to buy a new cylinder & beg the ex to fit it. He probably will but he's like Uncle Podger in Three Men in a Boat and needs all the family waiting attendance on him.

Think its coming from the join at the plughole - so plumbers mait it may have to be.

ATM I have a bowl underneath and a wonderfully minimalist under-sink selection of cleaner - and yes I am a Stardrops girlie (for cleaning with of course - still hope for Chanel No5 for dabbing behind the er, kneecaps:rotfl::rotfl:)

Got a Dad like your OH -TBH for this I may as well figure out how to do it myself and save myself the frustration  Besides I am saving up my brownie points for a big ask when it comes to plasterboarding the new room.

  • It is probably the screw in the middle of the plughole. If it is a modern sink. Clean all the gunk from around the edges and put some of the plumbers thread stuff around it and re screw in. I do a bit of plumbing around the house as Mr.B is not good at DIY- A couple of weeks ago i replumbed the toilet :)

Just had a visit from the on-laws and i was so happy as they were passing on the way to a walking holiday, so they dropped off loads of veggies from their allotment and some fridge contents of theirs which would have gone off.

So, i felt a moment inspired by yourself, and made 2 quiches, one of which was mine and the kids lunch and one for the fridge, and some leftover pastry became some mini jam tarts. In return, i made a honey tea loaf to serve with a cup of tea when they got here, and sent them with some for later.

Love it love it love it. I still need to go to the shops to buy some fruit but this weeks spends should be really low. Anyone got any great courgette recipes as that is what we mostly have?

Courgette frittata - with thyme lovely
Courgette bread - seriously - its lovely
Cooked with lemon and garlic with spaghettini
Courgette in tomato and basil sauce (freezes and is great for winter pasta bakes or pizza toppings.
Pickled - you quarter them ans stuff them in a big jar and cover with brine (addicted to this when preggers)
Grated with potato to make rosti.
Sliced, blanched and frozen for later in the year as a side veg
    Curries - Mmmmmmmmmmmmm
Courgette muffins - sweet without loads of sugar (and I didn't tell the kids and they never realised.
In a quiche with dill and feta cheese.
Griddled on teh BBQ with peppers and onions then stuffed into a panini with garlic mayo

OMG!!!! I'm not doing my diet any favours am I??????????

Step away from the kitchen Memorygirl:rotfl::rotfl:

Shucks thanks:D:rotfl: I used to be in Rotary and now think of ways to boost GG funds. I have allsorts of mad cap ideas. One of my challenges for this year is to raise a significant amount of funding for Diabetes UK and Hirschsprung's disease- which my youngest dd suffers from. As it is our 25th anniversary( last week) and we met on the charity committee at Rotary- then we decided to do this as a way to make the time more significant.

What a brilliant idea:beer: I wish you all the best in this. If there is anything a fellow ex-Rotarian can do (yup!!! first woman in our area and its very much a "welcome to the 15th century" around here if you are a woman in business :rotfl::rotfl:) Just let me know. Where are you based (PM me if you like) - could I run a Charity seminar or something for you?? Think big BoB - what would you love to do???

I am going to hold a Celidh night- sounds like a lot of fun and a good way to burn off calories at the same time. Perhaps you could do something similar- sort of find ways to help them memorize the dances..:rotfl:

Trouble is, 3 whiskies into the evening you're having so much fun you don't care if you're doing it right or not. :rotfl: love a good Celidh though.

Seriously though- i would buy one of the books. As a teacher, i always look for new ways and i used to use mind mapping to memorize Shakespeare plays. I can still visualize Macbeth:D

Me too - especially with David Tennant in the role -:rotfl:

I'm your secret weapon then - ex West End Stage Manger who knows memory stuff - (Promise not to name drop but there are a couple of fairly well know actors who have done the courses)

    Hello Memory Girl

I started to read you're diary this morning and was hooked ( so hooked I haven't done all the jobs I had planned yet). :o

You have inspired me to stop procrastinating and get on with it, well when I have finished reading. :rotfl:

I will enjoy keeping up with you diary. Now back to lurking.

    Hi Gien

    Hi Parsniphead

Welcome to all that is manic - LOL

Got the keys, got the doors opened. Tried to explain to the volunteer painters what needed doing - but seriously we are talking about 2 guys who couldn't organise a u-know-what in a u-know-where!!!!!!!!! Hoping they don't cause too much havoc in the next couple of hours.

I knwo I explained everything clearly, the bus driver understood, my 10 yr old understood -I planned ahead as much as possible (putting all the paint out of reach except the primer I need them to work with - but I bet you I go back to find they think its a good idea to use gloss as undercoat!!!!!!!!!

And breathe........................ still its better entertainment than the telly I suppose.

Off to cook some quick tea for me and the littlies : Pasta and fresh tomato sauce followed by frozen strawberry yogurt for the boys. Collect my volunteers at 8.30 and have the kids in bed by 9pm (she hopes!)

What sort of day have you guys had?
