Are tesco mobiles locked?

My sister wants to get this phone http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-2971.aspx and put her o2 sim in it. Will it be locked to the TESCO network and also will it have any branding on and in the phone?

Thanks :)

I was in my local Tesco looking at phones this weeked. All the Tesco Mobile PAYG phones had a little quote on the box cheerfully saying "I'm locked to the Tesco Mobile Newtork!" as if it were a good thing.

The same probably applies to Tesco Mobile phones bought from Tesco Direct.

Tesco uses the O2 network so o2 cards work in them and Tesco sims in o2 locked phones (IME). My kids have between them, one o2 locked phone and one Tesco phone. They have swapped sim cards before. Orange, vodaphone etc don't work though.

    It's only a game

    From the Tesco Mobile website...
    Handset unlocking:

If you wish to use another network's SIM, you will need to arrange for it be unlocked. If this is the case, you must not insert another operator's SIM card into the mobile without an unlatching code (which is not your PIN code). We will on request provide an unlatching code after 12 months starting from the date you activated your handset. If you activate your handset and use the Tesco Mobile network for less than 12 months before receiving an unlatching code, we will charge you a fee of £20 to unlock your handset.
