Mobile phone contract haggling?

I have a mobile contract thats up for renewal, so I swotted up all the haggling tips on this site, took a deep breath and phoned Tmobile. They told me that they no longer do the phone I wanted to upgrade to and referred me to Carphonewarehouse!

Suggest a slightly better alternative phone that would normally cost a little more, but also suggest you shouldn't have to pay the extra
