I'm taking my driving test on Thursday. Do any of you good people any tips for me?

I'm a 30 year old mum of two and have been a bit of a late starter. Have been having 2 lessons a week since October and I KNOW I am ready but have a feeling that my nerves are going to let me down. :o

Oh good luck, my OH is doing hers soon when it is booked. The booking are 8 week wait though?

All I can say is just stay calm, the examiner will be expecting any pupil to be nervous and will of seen it all before!

Try Rescue Remedy (my driving instructor swears by it!) It's made form plant extracts etc. and comes in a spray or chewy sweet. It just helps to calm the nerves- it helped alot when I was facing my driving test.
The woman in the local health food shop said she knew when test day was coming up as all her Rescue Remedy was gone.

    Good luck for Thursday!
Every time life knocks me down, I just stay on the ground for a bit and look up at the sky for a while. Eventually I get up and have a cup of tea.

If only- We live in a small town in the middle of nowhere, so we only have test days every month or two- a pain if you fail though, you have to wait ages to retake the test.

hiya first off good luck xxx

the only advice i have is pretend your with your driving instructor. talk like you normally would, think of the pen and paper as your driving instructor writing out his/her weekly shopping list.

if you fail, you fail. happens to the best of us xx i passed on my 3rd go.

let us know how you get on xxxx

I took Kalms the day of my 4th driving test, I passed, yay, with no faults at all. (bit of a contrast to the previous 3...). It definitely did keep me calm. I was nervous and starting to feel, if I don't pass this time I'll give up...
  • All i can say is good luck and don't stress!

On the day of my first test i was very stressed and i couldn't calm down, i had only had one mock test so didn't know what to expect, the fear of not knowing what it was going to be like was the worst thing for me. I had to ring my dad to come over. I didn't pass that test!

With my second test, i wasn't as nervous or stressed and i didn't make a big deal out of it and i passed with flying colours. For the first test I needed to pass and had put too much pressure on myself to do so. Good luck and I am sure you will be fine!
  • You can either drive to the standards required, or you can't. The examiner is there to judge that.

So stop worrying, drive as you've been taught, and if you fail then you should accept that you're simply not skilled enough yet. A fail isn't the end of the world, its an indication that you're not ready.

I asked my doctor for something because I was so nervous that I shook.

He perscribed "a Little pink Pill" I dont know what it was now and I did ask him later if it was a placebo but he just smiled.

Any way I did pass, it was my 4th attempt (two gos at 17, totally too immature, and then two further gos at 26)

So if you are really nervous, you could see what your doctor says.

I remember my test - I kept thinking I CAN drive, I AM a good driver. I passed first time.

Stay positive, and think of the stupidest driver you know, and say "well if they can pass their test, so can I"!

It's all about positive thinking, to get the right brain chemicals into production.

    Good Luck :)
