You are right about the difficulty insurance companies have getting out of paying third party claims but even for own damage claims the regulator generally rules against companies who try and avoid paying out on cars which were un-roadworthy or lacked MOT unless the un-roadworthiness caused or contributed to the accident.0 -
Surely on that side of things any half-decent contract lawyer working for them should be able to argue their case.:T:T:T

Over here in N.I,it's now law for every car requiring an MOT to display one of these next to your tax disc, you get this along with your MOT certificate.0

Car passed MOT with no problemsHandle every stressful situation like a dog.
If you can't eat it or play with it ....... just pee on it and walk away.0 -

GREAT idea. Adapting the one on the current UK MOT certificate and making it law to display it just like a tax disc would be a good idea imo.0 -
are you lot forgetting that just because you 'think' a car is roadoworthy doesnt mean it is... ther may be a serious fault with it that may only be noticed when you lift the car up and look underneath it or something
i can see that this car passed but you cant assume that your car is roadworthy when it hasnt got an MOTCoveredinbees!!!! wrote: »We did that the other year didn't realize until the tax run out, it was only 8 months, oops.
i dont know how people can forget about something like that... so you didnt realise that your last MOT was 20 months before? so to put this in perspective - if you last got an MOT in january 2009 (17 months ago), i would be august this year before you would have noticed..?
its not a month or 2, but 8 months!! its against the law as well, i think people should be fined, what if you end up having an accident because your car is not roadworthy.. its not a case of "well i got it done eventually and it passed so it doesnt matter" its a case of "what if it wasnt fine and someone got badly hurt or killed" its just lazy-ness, do you forget your wedding anniversary or you birthday as well...?0 -

And more importantly, as it seems to escape a lot of people, possibly you included, you can't assume it is roadworthy when it has got oneI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
If a serious accident happend and a car was destroyed it might be hard to prove it was roadworthy. But no MOT does not mean no insurance. Most policies specify a car to be roadworthy.0

Yup,I just have to look at me windscreen to see when mine expires, save's digging thru the paperwork all the time to find out.
I got one of my fact's wrong in my last post,It's every vehicle on the road,be it car,van ot lorry. I think even motorbikes have to have one although I dont know if motorbikes require an MOT.
Over here as well, you cant get your MOT done at a garage,it has to be done at a DVLA run regional test center.0 -
