I know, I can't imagine why you would buy some special milk for bedtimes! I think those follow on milk things are a con as well. Kids have been fine on breastmilk/formula/cow's milk as toddlers for ever...

    Marketing and moneymaking. That's all.

It amazes me that official advice is to NEVER add baby rice/cereal to a baby's bottle/milk for a whole host of health reasons, yet milk companies are allowed to sell good night milk which is, er, milk thickened with cereal :silenced:

    vegetarians do not eat fish.

    pescetarians eat fish.

vegans additionally do not eat cheese, eggs, honey.

"rennet" is also used in the process now. Rennet is found in the stomachs of mammals and as far as I know you can't extract it when they are alive - it used to be a abyproduct of veal production.

at least everyone can enjoy crispy bacon as bacon is a fruit :T

I dont have a baby of my own but I used to feed these to a child i fostered.
I am a vegetarian myself but when I do have my own children, I do not want to feed them the vegetarian diet. I find it too limiting.

Same here, but people find that hard to understand :)

Also I think it complicates going to parties and I'd like it to be their choice, same as it is mine. I also would be concerned that as meat is hard to digest, that if they chose to be a meat later it would cause them problems.

Also one can not eat dairy and the other is just starting a wheat & dairy free diet, I'm good at cooking, but I'm not convinced I could give the eldest a good diet if vegan and wheat free, it is going to be really hard not allowing him certain foods only. Especially as he refuses cold/wet food :( Actually-think i'll start a thread, I am feeling a bit daunted!:rotfl:

That said, they eat it only 3 or 4 times a week as I like to make sure the quality is good and of course that costs!

Really? I'm surprised! I have been vegetarian my whole life, and vegan at times too and have never found it limiting in the least. Even when I was vegan I found I could eat out in restaurants with very few problems. On the whole if you are cooking for your family I can't understand how the huge host of food available to us, year round due to import, could be too limited. It just takes a bit of imagination surely?

I frequent another forum and I remember there being a huge uproar when one poster explained exactly what was in certain formulas:eek: I'm vegetarian myself and decided to breastfeed when having my bundles of joy but it certainly would have put me off knowing they weren't vegetarian.

If it's Good Night milk I gather this is like follow-on milk (assuming here?) There are foods that contain the long chain fatty acids that aren't fish and suitable for veggies and vegans. My personal choice has been to breastfeed for as long as possible just because of the composition of breastmilk in comparison to formulas and how it is a 'complete' food so no worries about my veggie children lacking in the fatty acids as it's all there in the breastmilk.

It does seem a shame for those who do use it because it was veggie, I have had to get used over the past few years to checking ingredients on loads of stuff with the trend for the addition of fish oils to children's foodstuffs.
