    Well, the OP's husband's nephew is turning 25 sometime soon, so this answer is for the general case...

    A nice fountain pen or watch is actually a great gift. People automatically think booze, but a pen or watch is more of a symbol of 'you're a grown-up now, here's some grown-up things' which will last a lifetime.
