Just got that phone and want to use my tesco sim card in it

i had one, and had to have it unlocked at local mobile shop, was charged £10
as they said it involves a lot of work, i.e. opening phone up

correct, the phone needs to be opened and a jig attached to test points to read the unlock codes. hence, no free codes.
