Why is EA so rude!!

I am really put off dealing with EA, they are so rude and are not helpful at all. E.G, I was asking to view a house at 325k and he said it was sold and there is another available at 329k, above my budget. He asked whether I want to view and I said not at the moment and he replied,"give me a ring when the house is sold". Usually I like to check the location and the house mysef and if I like when I see on the outisde, I will ask for a viewing as I do not wish to waste their time and I do not enjoy viewing houses. If I am spending that much money I want a house that can sell itself just by looking at the outside as well. He would not tell me how much the house has been sold due to data protection whereas another EA happily told me how much a house I like was sold. I cannot see why not, as these details will be available on the internet. Another EA got crossed with me when I said I did not like the location. When I decline any viewings, he said I will not bother looking for. They do not seem to be wanting my business. Looking for a house is getting to be a nightmare. I really want these guys to be on my side, I seem to be rubbing them the wrong way. I just cannot believe within 2 months, the house prices where I have been looking are gone up by 5k, this seems excessive to me with the interest rate going up.

Unfortunately, unless you are a very pro-active buyer with a reasonable amount of enthusiasm, a lot of estate agents will see you as a bit of a waste of time.
I think your problem is going by your other posts concerning this house you wish to buy is that you are looking in an area that you are not familiar with & this is causing a lot of hesitation in your buying process.
The area you are looking in seems very bouyant, so I think you need to be a little more decisive if you find a property you wish to offer on, otherwise you may still be looking in months to come.
Once thing I have certainly learned over the years when buying property is that you just cannot rely on the exterior of a house to get a true idea of it's desirability. A great percentage of houses look great on the outside & you get all excited with anticipation, then your heart falls to your boots as soon as you get through the front door. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
I just had my offer for 295k for a 304.95k house rejected. I have asked for a second viewing, EA wil not tell me what the other buyer is offering, he said this will not be fair to the buyer. I thought they usually tell you so that you can bid against each other.0

No, I've never been told what others have offered. If I've made an offer of the same amount as the other party then I've been told by the ea to give me the opportunity of increasing my offer, but not if they have offered a higher amount.
When making an offer it is often best to avoid regular amounts such as £295k, sometimes going in at an irregular figure such as £296,20 can secure you the sale if the other offer is the same & it sounds a lot more to the vendor.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

No, if the agent told you what the other offers were then I would think he was highly suspect and not at all professional. He may also be bound by teh data protection act. The seller is paying his fees and its in his interest to get them as high a sale price as possible - if you want to know what the other offers are they try an auction.0 -
The position is the EA said they had an offer on this house, the buyer has got a mortgage whereas I am a cash buyer and I am prepared to buy some of her stuffs as well as the family is emigrating. I think I am in a strong position. Will keep you posted after second viewing. Thanks0

One of the EA did tell me how much the house I like was sold for. What will be near the asking price for a house of 304.950K? It's something I came across very often. I fouond some EA will also tell me a guide price to start the offer. It's the seller who told me before they had offers and how much it was for when I chit chat with them but I must not let the EA knows about it? How much should I increase my offer, is it better to do it bit by bit? Something else is bound to turn up, I am not that desperate, I can wait but my main concern like everybody else is whether the price will be going up and up.0

All the EAs in my area have said what the offers are straight away, like "we have 3 at the asking price and one at 2K over, so if you are interested give us a call on monday morning." I thought this was normal practice, otherwise how are you going to know what to offer without wasting everyone time?0

House offers aside, and even if you are deemed a time waster your estate agents should not be so rude to you. If they had any sense they would know that people who are enquiring now and do nothing normally come back at some point in future, and why would they want to give themselves such a bad reputation?!
I think you need to be a bit more assertive with these people and stand your ground, make your demands property wise and stick to them. Don't feel dismissed out of hand when they make sarcastic comments, pity them!I am a Mortgage Adviser

I am not sure what you have to do to be taken seriously by estate agents!!
We sold our house to some expats returning to the UK. The move was being financed by their company and no chain. Neither they nor we needed a mortgage. The sale wa progressing very fast as both of us had children that needed to be settled in new schools by the autumn.
Could we get estate agents to return our calls? Could we get details posted? Only one agent bothered to take us seriously ( and we were looking in the £500K range so you would think they would at least bother to return calls)) and he got a sale on the first house he showed us which was exactly what we wanted.
I know which agent will be selling it for us if/when we move again. I also know which agents will not even be considered.0 -
I'm looking for a house at the minute and had some weird experiences.
I've had an EA tell me that an offer was in on a house I wanted to see and how much it was for, but that the person had a house to sell, so the seller might accept an offer of the same or less.
Also, I've had another EA who won't tell me how many viewings a property has had as they "can't divulge that information" but every other EA has happiy told me how many viewings it has had.
Another EA lied as said there had been 3 viewings already but the seller told us we were the first! Interesting !!! lolLove MSE, Las Vegas and chocolate!0
