Removing paint from bathroom tiles

Hi
The house we're moving to has some of the tiles painted in a dark blue - I assume it's tile paint but could easily be gloss, not really sure. I thinkt the tiles are flat, so I'm wondering if I can scrape it, or use some sort of product to remove it. I don't mind if I have to re-grout the areas too. The painted tiles are dotted around.
We may end up renewing the whole bathroom anyway in the end, but curious if I can fix it up instead, by removing that paint on the tiles, re-flooring (I think it's carpeted just now), new bath panel (currently dark wood) etc.

Why dont you just buy more tile paint and paint over them.
Get a gloss undercoat first - paint them twice - then get tile paint and paint over them - grout in the gaps - good as new!Total Quidco earnings - £547.98

Oh and for something a little different - get a coloured grout pen - looks great!Total Quidco earnings - £547.98

Out of the whole room which is fully tiled, there's about 20 or so square tiles painted. I don't want them painted at all, just want to remove the navy paint from the cream tiles. Other than that I'll have to either get it tiled over or all removed and retiled (and possibly new bathroom). I'm wondering if I can do a temporary fix on the bathroom meanwhile and re-do it later when we've got less going on. We get the keys in August and have tons of other stuff to do, so it would be good to salvage the bathroom. Also it's a enamel bath so we think it might be awkward to remove?0

I would just smash them off the wall and replace them. Simple.Kind Regards

Thanks. Trust me, I'm tempted to! The room is fully tiled making it more awkward. We do have another shower room though which helps if we need to remove it all.
I'm thinking maybe we should just get it fully done, just wary that we're doing a kitchen etc too, and could end up spending a fortune.0 -
Try Nitromors?0

I'll second donna, give nitromors a go, it may well damage some of the grout though, but as it is a "temporary" measure anyway there is not a lot to loose.Unless it is damaged or discontinued - ignore any discount of over 25%0

That might take the gloss off the tiles. Be careful with this stuff, burns through anything.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Depends what paint is originally on the tiles, I had to do this a couple of years ago for a client, and I tried, scrubbing, scraping, nitromores etc, and it was a struggle.
I found that by placing my steamer over the tiles, softened the paint, then I just scraped them off.
If you havent a steamer, get really hot soapy water, and sponge that over the tiles, I did this with the trickier bits.
I didnt have the odd the tile dotted around, but half a bathroom, it took me a good morning to do it, never again will I do it lol.0
