I saw a Felicia today with a 1.9 diesel lump in it, am I right in thinking this is the popular VW 1.9 TDI that's been in Golfs and such for years now too?
Yay. I shall provide my own chauffeur's outfit. That would be an interesting phone call. 'Hello, I'm an 18 year old male, please may you insure my Mercedes S-class?'0 -
I shall require photographic proof of uniform suitability!Give yourself a Chistmas bonus £14 a week!

Well, the pendulum has swung. I should have Peter Snow practising his swing-o-meter. . .
Skoda, immaculate inside and out FSH, BUT no power steering, was like driving a tank, and was a physical work out too - my shoulders and back were sore after 5 mins!
Merc, bit of rust repaired by door handle, mouldy passenger seatbelt, radio stuck to Taliban FM, air con a bit wierd, and isn't exempt from road tax. . .
but it drives like a dream, stops other cars in their tracks (through fear I think) and I knocked them down to £850, with full MOT. Service history fine until 5 yrs ago, but only done 15000 since then and has receipts for work done since then (by the famous "friend") and MOT only ran out in March. . .
So, call me mad, but it is mine! Should be able to collect Saturday!

When chosing older cars it always pays to see what they drive in Africa and Asia. It normally means the cars are generally reliable, parts are cheap or you can make do and mend much more easily.
Enjoy your car!0 -
Well done. Good luck with it. Aircon may only need a re gas, which doesn't cost too much, you can have a new CD/radio fitted for about £70, unless you want to preserve the original, and you can get a seatbelt from a scrappy. Could do with a full service though, which could be pricey.0

Thanks everyone - so much more helpful here than on the wedding thread!
I have an ipod thingie that plays the ipod throught fm airwaves, so can convert Taliban FM to my choice of tunes.

One of the easiest and most effective jobs you can do is to change the transmission fluid. Chances are it won't have been done for a long time.
Cost, no more than £100.0 -
I was just going to suggest an FM transmitter. Well if I were you, and if I had enought time and money, I'd replace the stereo with a secondhand original working one, then fit an original CD changer to that. Presuming there was a CD changer to go with it back then.0
