Help! Thomas cook left us stranded!

I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Greece.
Our tickets stated that we were flying home 1.5.10 at 01.15 and that check in opened at 11.15 on 30.4.10.
On the third day of the holiday the rep put a note under our door stating we were now leaving on 2.5.10, no explanation given!
It seems there was a printing error on the tickets. We were made to check out of our rooms at noon, leaving us with no accomodation until the flight departure some 13 hrs later!
I did complete a complaimt for in resort and plan to writ to them tomorrow.
I have saved all receipts and cash withdrawal receipt.
In effect we suffered a 24 hr delay and no compensation food, drink or accomodation!
My partner is diabetic and it is imperative that he eats at regular intervals. Also, with no accomodation, he was forced to inject his insulin in a public toilwt with no locks and poor lighting!
I am going to try and claim from the tour operator as I find it totally unacceptable and poor service!
Has anyone else suffered anything similar and made a claim??

So they did not leave you stranded at all?Gone ... or have I?0

no food and drink in 13 hours?
was there no restaurants or bars open where you were?
stranded....dont think so'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
You got home . A lot of others ( some still ) had far worse times .
Yes you have had a rough time , but things have not really been normal in the travel line.0 -
Yes, there were families there who had spread their money over the holiday only to be told that they had to spend another 24 hours in resort due to the printing error on the tickets.
Their bank cards were disbled so they did not have the facility to withdraw funds for the delay.
Also, their travel insurance ran out on the day that the tickets stated we were departing!
So, yes, I feel that would qualify as STRANDED!0 -
You'd have had to but food for that 13 hours if you had got home on time - it's only geography! -C. (Ex-Pat Brit)

"Their bank cards were disbled" - they only had to call their bank to get them dis-disbled
"Also, their travel insurance ran out on the day that the tickets stated we were departing" No if they had delay coverage (dependent on actual time [13 hours in this case]) they are covered - your insurance is for the trip - if you are delayed you are covered (unless you bought cheap Trv Ins!)C. I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Greece.
Our tickets stated that we were flying home 1.5.10 at 01.15 and that check in opened at 11.15 on 30.4.10.
So what time on 30.04 did you expect to be leaving your hotel room for the 'original' flight?
I suspect that it would have been at noon on 30.04 leaving you 'stranded' (as you put it) for exactly the same period of time anyway. Cheap deals often utilise flights at unsociable hours.0 -
Perhaps the OP could clarify the details of this holiday - what were the times and date of the outbound flight and what was the duration (ie: how many nights actually in the accomodation) booked?0
-
We booked for 7 nights, as the tickets stated that we would fly home at 01.15 on the seventh night.
This would mean we would stay in the accom right up until departure as we had paid for the 7th night, just unfortunate flight times.
As it happened we flew home at 01.15 on the eighth night due to a 'printing error' on the tickets and invoices etc0 -
Katilou could you please answer my question about the date and time of the outbound flight?0
