Aol Housemove complete but no DSL signal ! eugh!!

Can anyone help me please. I have been told my broadband is activated at my new address but on setting up my router the DSL light is refusing to come on. Have gone through everything with aol support and they have done a test through bt and this was proved inconclusive on the line but broadband is definitely ready to go, just no DSL.

The phoneline is very old here and the faceplate of sole phoneline socket has a logo of a 'T' on the bottom right and the wiring coming out of it looks very narrow and leads to a small yellow box at the front door.

I really don't want to be without broadband for much longer. Using a mobile dongle with just 3GB allowance on it is driving me insane as I have no TV so I can't use VOD.

Are you plugged into the BT test socket which us behind the split faceplate on the BT master socket? Remove the 2 faceplate screws to access it. If not, retest from there, as that isolates any wiring on your side of the network from BT's network.
Do you have a known working ADSL filter on the master socket?
What make/model of router are you using?
You need to give more detail about what tests you have done with AOL already.
Does the voice side work OK-any noise/crackling on the line?

Well the first problem is that its not a standard BT master socket. I've undone the faceplate and a circuit board with a cylinder stuck to it is on the other side of the faceplate door. There is also lots of wound up flourescent wiring inside. No sign or room for a test socket.

I'm using a brand new filter on this socket (i replaced it whilst trying to faultfind) with the phone and router plugged into it as I would normally when I have used broadband before. I am using a Speedtouch ST585 V6. The voice side of the phone is fine as its already been in use as just a phoneline for some time now.

Im unsure of the test that aol/bt did on the line. I think it was for connectivity? and this was inconclusive. So the aol bod has filled in a fault form for bt.

OK so you have an older style master socket, so no test socket.
Have you tried swapping your router (can you use an old one/borrow one?) to eliminate that as a fault area?
However if AOL have ID'd it as a line fault on the broadband side, then really nothing you can do until BT Openreach have checked it out.
